you'll notice people asking for ecm nerfs are not noobs, it appears the only people who like ecm how it is are infact the noobs, as it allows them to kill much older characters without any skill, experience or effort.
wcs on the other hand, in my opinion are fine

I'm a 3 year old noob who has ECM spec skills at lvl 4, I use ECM in excessive ammounts my self and know first hand how overpowered it is. I want balance not overpowered mods that decide the outcome of fights.

ECM was nerfed already, get over it. The current system provides a counter for anything that is thrown at you for the most part. So it's up to you guys to figure out the setup you need to beat the ECM God. What's the next nerf Drones? Missiles? Dam please play the game like I do and learn the counters. There is no one setup to beat everybody, get over it, I seen a full ECM Sorpion get owned by a cerebus who was using fof and eecm.

Its ok Ive seen an ibis take down an apoc.
The "new" ECM system is no better or worse then the old ECM system imo. With the new system you have a "chance" to get some relief, however anyone can fit 1-2 Multispec jammers and your pretty much screwed the entire battle. In a 1vs1, equipping 1-2 multispecs basically makes you reduce all damage by 60-80% done to you by that one target. Overpowered, might as well release 60% Invulnerability Fields and Armor hardeners while they are at it

My point is that oldtimers are not the only ones allowed to have opinions on the game. Everybody does. Even the ones that doesnt have a clue. They will quickly get a clue because of it.

I dont think that ECM are overpowered. You can damp the jammer.
without ECM, in fight, only the guys that have the much skills will win. no need of brain..... Just take 8 raven with good skills, and they will kill 1 BS per 6 seconde. (or some arma it's the same thing).
If you have problem with rook damp it, domi/nosfe/ECM ? same damp it and stay @ 30 km. without nos for his tank, he will die pretty fast.
all fit can be counter.
So I agree, ECM do not need nerf. (it's only my opinion, And I respect the others points of view).

Tuxford, please nerf idiocy. It's clearly overpowered in that it will simply ignore sound arguments and instead attack the person behind said argument. It's like fitting a full rack of stabs, which let you ignore scramblers. Only worse, because idiocy needs no slots whatsoever.

The chance based system we have now might be acceptable if it didn't break your locks, and instead made them unusable until the cycle is up. As it stands once a successful jam is made you have to wait out the cycle, then retarget and engage your weapons again. By that time even if the second cycle has failed it's only a few seconds from the third cycle.
By adding a sensor dampener to that ECM a battleship really has no hope of relocking you in time, even if the third cycle fails too. And this isn't on the specialized ECM ships, this is on any ship.
As for ECCM's, in reality you need to fit 2 or 3 before they're effective, fitting only 1 won't make a huge difference.
The problem isn't that there are no counters to ECM, it's that there's no effective counters. A few things might work from time to time, but that's it. Like the "I've seen it done once" defense I see far too often (and again in this thread).

Problem with ECCM is that you sacrifice a fair amount of tank to make them work, and they aren't guarenteed to make any differance if the other guy doesn't have jammers. ECM needs one or two mods, and is almost certain to make some differance to the proceedings.

I don't really care about WCS though... Don't use them, don't plan to, don't care if everyone else runs with 7 of 'em...

ECM is overpowered.
My personal reasons why is that i fit a T1 mulitspec on every ship I fly. I dont even have the basic skills trained past the ones need to fit it because ECM is just so damn good.
This isnt the case with tracking disruptors and damps where you need to invest in some sp to get the best out of them, even then you need at least 2 damps to have a real effect.
To be honest i dont know why i'm even arguing with you as you are clearly an idiot.

ECM does have issues. Or, more appropriately, ECCM has issues.
As for the WCS arguement, I could care less. If you want to gimp your setup and run away, go right ahead. Still won't help you when you land in an Interdictor sphere or warp bubble.

Coming from someone who always either has 2 multis or 1 racial equipped on ships with available mids, ECM is overpowered.
There simply is no better use for those midslots when armor tanking, and either already having basic tackle mods fitted, or having a dedicated tackler with you. |
