I believe from reading it that this story is from bac in Eve's early days. It's long but very funny and well written.

This has been posted about 35 times minimum. In EVE's olden days, the story was actually more well-known than EVE itself.
What's funny is that its completely made up, at least as far as I remember. Last time I heard people investigated the details and none of them panned out at all... for example I don't think the character he mentions at the end of the story even exists.

Even though it's not true, that story actually got me pretty interested in EVE when I came across it (of course, being the newbie that I was (well... can you be a newbie before trying the game?), I believed it.
Scanning it again quickly, it was things like "outfitted with all the best decals, all the best hardware, and most importantly, the best weaponry that money could buy" that got me interested, thinking you could really customize a ship in terms of stats, etc.

It's still better known than EVE.
I know people who've mentioned hearing some 'cool scam where some guy called from a library" but they didn't know the game's name.

There are a few things about it that don't quite add up. Like how expensive he says the Moa and Maller were.

I read that story after I had started playing eve online. It was very interesting and worth the read considering that something like that COULD happen in the game tho.

That story kept me from joining EVE. Ruthless convinced me otherwise. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | Visual Building Guide (Both work in game too!) |

Keep in mind ship prices in the early days were VASTLY different then what they are now, the Moa and Maller prices he speaks of are believable.
That said, yeah, it never happend. It's a good work of fiction grounded in early game-reality. -- New Petition Inc Vid This signature is protected by the pattented NoDev 2000 technology. THERE WILL BE NO COLORS But colors are fun!!-Kaemonn Look! Christmas colors!-ReverendM
