i used to run 2 clients at once. one for my main and one for my alt both windowed. It worked fine
Recintly i reformated my hard drive and downloaded the newest vertion of eve and installed it. When i try to run one player all is fine but when i try to log in a second it crashes out or i get grafix problems like space going white the text dissapearing ships dissapearing etc..
i have tried to copy another client onto my desktop so i am running 2 totaly diffrent programs but i still get problems.
can anyone help or give me an idea what may be wrong ???

Did you change your motherboard or graphics card during the reinstall? I'm assume you have upgraded to the most recent approved drivers for your card?
White zones and GFX corruption can be as a result of heat buildup leading to corruption, or some issue with the GFX card itself. Please try the original work around of ensuring sound is off on both clients, also as you state its best to run dual clients from 2 separate directorys. I would suggest you check the temperatures your box is runnign at when you activate the first client for a period of time, and then monitor its increase with the second client activation.
I had a similar issue on one of my rigs, installing 2 additional case fans sorted it.

Sounds as if you got a memory problem on your grafic card. Check if it is seated solidly into the slot. Reinstall DirectX.
If you got an ATi card, do not use the most current driver because it causes problems with EVE. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

When you say "copied another client onto your desktop" do you mean you have just made another Shortcut of EVE? Because you do need 2 completely different folders whom you both need to patch etc to run 2 acc. from...
You prolly know this anyway.

I run 2 clients from one folder and only seem to have problems when sound is enabled on both of them.

Sounds like your graphic card has run out of memory.
Lower the resolution, turn off antialiasing, etc.

i dont LIKE wasting room but,
1, I have 157GB free and will never fill it.
2, The other client i use to play the test server, so i can update it with test server updates without fear of it borking my main account.
3, I have 2 accounts so cant be breaking some insane copyright rule,
so feel im ok doing this i was just wondering if ccp had some mad rule about it u know what the eula can be like

you know the exact opposite happened with me
It used to be that when i ran 2 clients, after about 10-20 mins they would lock up the entire computer and I'd have to do a cold restart. Now I reformatted, everything works fine, if a bit laggy and low FPS (only an x300 graphics card). I spent 2 hours mining with one and hauling with the other at the same time last night. Both running from the same install.
I disabled sound on both of them because it runs them faster that way, plus when i disabled sound before the reformat, they tended to last longer before they locked up.
I do have a problem playing movies at the same time. I like to have something playing in a small window- simpsons or whatever, and after about 10-20 minutes, it crashes the system if I run a copy of eve and a video file at the same time. MP3s and wavs work fine tho.

i have recently tried to run 2 different accounts on one pc, but its a bit of a stretch.
i have a p4 3ghz with 1 gig of ddr400 and an ati x800gto (256 mb)
im using a sammy syncmaster 19" lcd for one account, native rez 1280x1024 , and the 2nd account i drag over to a crappy crt @1024x768.
the sec i drag the 2nd account over to the other monitor everything turns to syrup ..even before i fire in my main account
it does work --but its kinda unplayable, even with sound off and undocked at a safe spot.
any ideas anyone ?

try going into the 'graphics tab' of the second client and check the dropdown, I think there should be 2 to pick from. Choose the other one

Sorry was at work so couldn't pull up the screen.
When you press escape, select the 'Graphics' tab.
Under 'Adapter and Device', next to 'Display Adapter' there is a dropdown. I think one of those is for each screen, so select the other one on the client in the other window.
