Hi there, I'm reaching the point where I'm going to pick my first Battleship. So far I like the Dominix, mainly though because of it's enormous drone bay. But although it has a huge drone bay most Battleships also seem to have large drone bays. Since I have no experience using Heavy Drones, I am just wondering if anyone can tell me how many you can fit into at Dominix?
I can currently use 8 drones at once, but if I could fit enough Heavy Drones in a Scorpion to maximize this ability than I would probably head that way. Thanks.

A dominix can get 5500 drone bay i belive, thats enoughf or 22 heavy drones, though u can only use 10 at once. Those extra 12 are there as back up i guess. You could so bring many different types of drones and config your strike force depending on what harders your enemy uses, or launch 10 praetors and take down shields, call them back, then launch 10 berzerkers.

At Gall BS Lvl 2 you get 5500 drones space because of the 5% increase as special. Use the space to your advangate. Drones might also get waisted in combat so you need extra. Also keeping a supply of different kinds is key. there are 4 different types of heavy drones. If your deepcore mining you might want to keep some mining drones and/or harvestors in there too if you don't have many mining lasers on board.
Find the best solution for your given gameplay. I think the Dominix is one of the best ships in the game. Thats why I traded a Megathron for it and ISK. Not only does it pack a punch in rocks for mining ( 6 miner 2s ) and harvestors, but it can run an assortment of heavy and Medium guns and eWar hardware plus the heavy combat drones.
Its a shame that the lvl 2 BBs aren't better than their lvl 1 counterparts... Sigh. Oh well maybe lvl 3 will be better. Just remember, put an f90 posistional sensor and match hardners to your preys firepower, Medium C5-L and MWD on the Mediums. On the lows put Nanofibers, ECCM magnetronic array, Tracking Puter, at least a Linear Flux Stabilizer and some Power Diagnostics on the lows.
To many of debate on the High slot loadouts :
Why not Mix and match weapons. So you get a bonus to Large Hybrids on a Dom ( 5% ) but many people know that and expect that. Then they put hardners for that. Try throwing Projectiles on a Dom and Maybe a Large Laser to make them wish they did their shield homework better. Don't know how that would work... but... it might be worth it.

Dominix does good in squads, as you have more time to deploy drones and use them to your fullest. . it isn't a 0.2 second killer like a tachyon setup with heavy cruise on an Apoc, but it still rocks.

Yes, but doesn't the Dominix have only 6 hi -slots as compared to the Megathron's 8?

Yes the Dom has 6 hi slots but all 6 can be used for turrets the megathron can only use 7 of its 8 slots for turrets so the difference is nominal really especially when I bought my Dom for 45mill and the cheapest Megathron I have seen is 82mill

I have a Dominix and I really like it. It is my favourite battleship in the game.
There is one problem however. Whenver I do pvp, my teammates usually prefer no drone usage because it causes lag, so usually I end up not using my army of 23 heavy drones. So if you want to fight with other people, it is best that you ask them what they think about drone lag before you buy a ship for its huge drone space.
If you don't want to do pvp. The drone bay becomes really usefull when doing low security mining and npc hunting.
