I'm a 5 week noob with a Thorax, and wanted to know which skills I should train up that would increase the damage done by my small hybrid railguns. Is "Small Hybrid Turret" a good one? Any others?

Small hybrid turret and Surgical Strike will increase the damage your guns do, you may find that fitting medium guns is a lot more effective as the thorax gets a 5% per level of gallente cruiser bonus to medium hybrid damage.

well the obvious ones are:
 Gunnery (increases your rate of fire, and therefore damage output)
Rapid Firing (another boost to rate of fire)
Appropriate gun skill (like small hybrid turrets, which gives damage bonus to that type of gun)
Surgical Strike (another straight damage bonus)
Not so obvious ones would be things like:
Controlled bursts (reduces capacitor needs, which means your thorax can get more shots off before running out of cap and having to slow down shooting)
Motion Prediction (makes your guns track better, and miss less, thereby increasing damage output)

Thanks...I tried fitting medium guns, but found I didn't have enough power. |

AOs: Your sig is waaaay too big, trim it down please..
As for the other skills, yeah, pretty much anything that makes your guns do more damage(like the hybrid weapons, surgical strike, etc) or makes them more efficient, is a good idea.
Eventually, work your way up to tech II guns and the like, because I believe the specialization skills give a damage bonus.

Basically you WILL need all the gunnery sub skills such as surgical strike.
