if anyone is still interested, i beleive that a trip to find a way to jovian space would be a good thing for eve. It's possable that CCP has intentionally said these things and yet they exist. Though im new to the game and dont know where the Jove space is remotely located. EVE might just be waiting for someone(s) to find the jovian space, and those who do could become rich. |

Sounds like a cool idea. Hasn't someone already tried it? And can't you get there with a stand alone jumpdrive of a large ship, like a dreadnought or a carrier (titan! ).
Anyway, lets build an expedition fleet! Who's with us? Cheers, Ta'el. |

there is 1 tiny problam. Jove space is close. if you look in the Theodicy short story, in the end the Jove blew up their stargates and lock themselfs from the rest of the universe, so basicaly you cant jump there. and for the jump portals on dreadnoughts and carriers and titans, they need someone in the other side of the jump with a cyno field generator and THAT guy needs to get everywhere the normal way. so, if no one can get there in the normal way, no one can call a dread or carrier there also. sorry to disappoint you but Jove space is not going to be open soon...

Is the 3-dimensional EVE map to scale? Coz if so, we could jump to the system closest, mount a frigate with an MWD and send it off for a few months.

Damn...
And as for the flying there in a few months with a MWD, although this should be possible theoratically, once you are there, you can't get back through a stargate. And we cannot build stargates ourselves, nor take one on tow. Pretty useless. Apart from that, I think the distance would be to large anyway (and I suspect Eve is build that you cannot leave the system in that fasion...). Cheers, Ta'el. |

It is posssable that there are still stargates into the jove space, it says they destroyed there STARGATE (no "s") so it is possable that there is a stargate that they dont know about.also, it might be possable to jump there with the capital ship systems. i remember reading something about them being able to lock onto stellar objects (stars, planets, etc). so if thats true, than the capital ship pilot could see if they can lock onto a star. First we'd have to see if Jove space containes a star on the star map (if it doesnt and there stargates really are gone, than it might just be useless).

There is no content in Jove Space. You cant get there and there would be no reason to try.

I heard that some players petitioned to GM's falsely stating that they were stuck in a system and asking to be sent to a specific system za6-9n for example and not realising they sent them to Jove.
If anyone has done that id really like to know what they found there.

people have been there, and theres nothing, no people anyway, i think there's stations.
also, the titan and mothership do not require a cynosural field, they have a standalone jump drive to move, unfortunately, the skill has not been released yet, so there is no way in, and you most likely won't get in there even with a jump drive.

its impossible to go from one system to another using a mwd.

so other than high Science skills and Survey to find the areas, wouldn't we need crazy Social skills to have some credibility with the Jovian? I'm asking, because I thought with Exploration coming, this was already designed.

It'd take literally decades. If it's even possible at all.

Way more than decades. If a Frigate with MWD goes 5 km/s, that's 60,000 years to travel just 1 light year. I think that falls well into the realm of not possible at all.
If we could use our warp drives (we should be able to according to the backstory, I think... we just can't ingame because of technical and balance limitations right now), that's a little under 3 hours per light year. Boring but doable.

Eye opener, because I can.
In the olden days of Eve bookmarks were made differently, as far as I know.
I possess a Bookmark that take you a good few hndred AU's away from the star of the system the bookmark is located. When you look on the map, you are actually closer to the next door system, not the one you jsut warped from. Warping to this bookmark takes twenty minuites.
Once at this location you are closer to the next door system, but you cannot see any of the things in it, even thought they should be right on top of you. This has lead me to believe that Eve is made up of instances. Each system is not part of Eve, but each one is seperate. Imagine each system as a room. It dosent matter if you get very close to the wall, on the other side of which is another room, you have to go through the door.

not to mention that it seems as if the stations are reasonably filled in as far as services goes.

It is hidden, and is not mentioned on the maps. It was eluded to by someone in Concord.

You're being coy. :-)
Who is "someone in Concord"? Does that mean a dev? An NPC agent? As far as I know, there are no players in CONCORD. Are you trying to refer to someone in ISD or CRC? If the entrance was merely alluded to, how do you know that it's hidden and not on the maps?

Edited by: Zo Lee on 25/12/2006 00:31:57 Sometimes the map shows that there are some jumps there and there are destroyed player ships... What are those? Or just developers play their game? While I am writing these lines there are 11 players are in 5 different system according to map.

I'm pretty sure taht the Devs use Jove space to tool around in their own ships. If you notice, some of the Devs have Jovian avatars. I have seen people blown up in Jove space and pilots active (one or two at the most). I imagine it's the way Devs test new material on tranquility without interferring in our day to day gaming.
To address finding our stargates that the jovians didn't destroy. you need two stargates for the connection to work, like a phone. Getting there is impossible unless the devs open it somehow.

No it isn't. There is no way for us to get to it but it certainly is not closed in the eve universe. There are a few of Jovian corporations within Eve space. I haven't seen any agents but the stations are owned by Jovians.
Also there are also a group of Jovian Delegates in Crielere.

If you use the new map you can clearly see that there is content (stations and what not). Also the jovian corporations do appear to be active.

about 20 minutes exploring various sites here is what else I have found.
- There were at one time Jovian Agents in Eve Space, but were recalled back to Jove space some three years ago.
- Jove space is active although not by us and some systems have changed sec status over the years. Stations are active as well.
- Jove technology is supposed to be years ahead of what we currently have.
- Jovians are also supplying certain belt rats with technology for information.
- A story of Jovian Battleship that was taken over by a sick Jovian resulted in the deaths of 100's of eve pilots.
- There is a rumour of a secret Jovian gate. More of an urban legend actually. From what I could pick out some have rumored to move about and certain agents will hint of its location.
- Entrance into Jove space is generally fatal for those that enter.
- Polaris is something else beyond Jove. Although supposedly Jovian their technology far surpasses that of Jovian tech.

I believe at one time early on someone found they could set their clone to a Jove station, did so, and pod-jumped there. It was rather boring since nothing was seeded.
I've also heard a story that at one stage early on a group of guys suceeded in probing their way to Jove space using Oberservators. I do not know the truth to this.

Just one month ago more like.
Jovians hosted the Caldari Tournaments, too, so there's a bit of knowledge about the space amongst the contestants / reporters. --
