Hello. I am recently returning from a long hiatus and readjusting back into the scheme of things. One thing I've noticed that seem fun are the small mobile siphon units and the mobile depot units.
Are there are any comprehensive tutorials on their use, strategies for using them, etc? I dug around the forums and couldn't find a lot.

They're kind of self-explanatory.
Mobile Depot: Carry in your ship to quickly swap out modules as needed. Works pretty well for exploring, etc.
Mobile Tractor Unit: Deploy in a mission pocket, scoop loot when done. Carry some salvager drones if you want to get the full benefit.
Mobile Siphon Unit: Warp cloaked to a tower and check out what kind of modules it has up. If it appears to solely be a moon reaction tower, get a fast small ship with enough cargo to drop a siphon unit and GTFO while it onlines. Come back and scoop in another fast ship. The tower won't shoot the siphon, but it will try to shoot you. I experimented with these a little bit and found that it's very challenging to make a reasonable profit for the effort expended. My impression is that it's a great idea that the devs haven't fully fleshed out. www.everevolutionaryfront.blogspot.com

Tractors are great to deploy if you are scouting for a gank fleet.
Once your fleet has warped to you and landed on-grid, drop the MTU, and it will loot all of the ganking modules fitted to your fleet after they get CONCORDed. (Well, the half that drop anyway). You should be in a ship with a decent buffer and decent cargohold - you then loot your own MTU, then scoop it, then warp off. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346564 - a proposal to overhaul the Logistics skill https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. www.minerbumping.com - ganking miners and causing chaos |

I find Mobile Tractor Units to be extremely useful for cleaning up level 4 missions. Not just for the salvaging, but for the module/ammo/tag looting.
If you are going to loot individual wrecks or cans, you need to get in range, click the wreck, then click loot all, for each and every wreck you want to loot. This takes a lot of time and becomes cumbersome.
If you have a MTU active, bookmark it, complete the mission (wrecks and cans will remain) then run a 2nd mission. After mission #2 is done, warp back to your bookmarked MTU from mission #1. It will have pulled in all (or almost all) wrecks. You can scoop your MTU to cargo and it will leave a can. You can then loot the can with 2 clicks.
For larger missions you can end up with 30mil to 40mil worth of lootable modules/ammo/tags/etc. This is well worth the time to setup, then come back with a ship that has a larger cargohold, hit a few buttons, and warp out.
This method doesn't always work so well when you need a looted item from the mission to complete it. (Damsel in Distress, Militants, etc.)
As far as salvaging goes, I do not believe that salvaging is "worth it" in terms of isk/hour vs running level 4s, but I still salvage anyways. I find salvaging peaceful and relaxing, so what I lose in isk/hour I make up in enjoyment. |

Be aware that any structure you drop is a big fat ''I'M RIGHT HERE'' target to probers.
other than that -
MTU - great for tidying up MDU - great for mobile operations MSU - God knows howw this would work well without dropping maybe 20 at a time (if that was possible) |
