No:
Don't mix your weapons, it nerfs your ability to hold a single range (what's the point of the heavy if you have to stay in assault range). Go full heavy or full assault (latter makes it easier to fit tanks etc.
Also if you're runnign L2s you're killing millions of frigates, assaults will be far better,

Seems pretty ok to me, never done lvl 2s in a caracal so not really sure. If poss i would use a frig/AF/destroyer for lvl 2s, makes it much faster, specially if you are picking up the loot. When I do a spot or two of lvl 2s I use and ishkur, rips through the missions like a warm knife through butter.

assault caracal eats L2s easily enough. Looting can be a pain but MWD solves this.
Personally my fave caracal setup is 5 assaults, 10mn MWD, couple of large extenders and a couple of BCUs. Good damage, good speed, good tank (for L2s)

5x assaults 1x 10mn AB 1x Med booster II (or named) 1x large extender 1x Shield boost amp 1x invuln or enemy specific hardener 1x bcu 1x pdu
Is the general setup i run in level 2 missions sometime swap some stuff around to fit heavys when needed. caracals are pretty straight forward for most lvl 2's -------- Kill em all and let god sort em out

Just grab some random modules and fit them. Missiles are usually good, but you have a couple turret slots if you feel like it. So is fitting some shield tanking stuff, but you could always just use an armor plate. I'm not kidding, you'd really have to try hard to find a Caracal setup that can't do level II missions with a half-awake pilot. Cruisers are pretty much god mode for level IIs.

1) The lower grid on assaults lets you fit better shields, while still keeping some long range power.
2) The main reason: level IIs (and to some degree, level IIIs) involve a lot of frigates. You will have a hard time keeping range indefinitely on a faster ship, so you use the heavies to cut their numbers until they get into assault range. A 3/2 split gives you a good balance between long-range sniping and close-range frigate ownage.

i am a complete nub (3 weeks) and my current caracal fit rapes lv2 missions
Started with a -20 quality agent and have worked up to a +18 one; no deaths and i've only have to warp out when i forget to turn on my shield booster
2 heavy missle launcher 1 3 assult launcher 1
1 medium shield booster 1 1 10mn afterburner (named) 1 large shield extender 1 //this gives your shields loads of hp 1 small shield extender 1 1 cap recharger 1
2 power diagnostic system 1
and a couple light scout drones that really don't accomplish anything
i've had this setup since i first got my caracal and even though im sure i can do better, i haven't had the need to.
my only two complaints are 1) picking up loot takes forever 2) sometimes i get jammed
oh yeah and like 99% of the time i use scourge and bloodclaw missles because it seems like everything in caldari space is weak to kinetic

5 x Assault Launchers, loaded with bloodclaws.
3 x Large Shield Extenders 2 x Racial shield hardeners (Using thermal and kinetic for caldari missions)
2 x Shield Power Relays
Peak shield recharge of around 25-30 shield per second. Around 7k shields total.
Breezes through every level 2 (didn't break 75% shields on illegal activites 3).... unless you don't have the skills to nail those stabbers that stay at 30km, then you'd need to break out the heavies. |
