Hello!
I regularly move my JF around from station to station in our region of space. I fly around my interceptor pilot on an alt carrying a cyno and some liquid ozone to get to the stations that are the next node in my route.
When I get there, I remove the LO and Cyno and put them into my hangar into that station, then contract the interceptor to myself. I then undock and redock into the station, simply to get the rookie ship to light my cyno.
To me I could see benefit, for situations like this and other situations, to have a "Request a Rookie Ship" button in each station that will give you a noobship if you don't already have one in your hangar.
I could see this being beneficial for not only the players to request one at will, but also could lower the impact on the server/database management on EVE's side of things. Right now, to do the prior described scenario, I will be impacting the server more because I am creating contracts and unloading and reloading from stations, etc.... when the goal is to simply get a noob ship.
Another note is that for most players, especially those who have been around for extended periods of time like myself, just because I dock in a station that has no ship, doesn't mean I want a noobship automatically given to me. I can't imagine how many noobships are just sitting in people's hangars all across New Eden taking up that much more processing power and room in EVE's database.
The Feature can be very simple:
1. Have an option where users can turn off the automatic delivery of noobships to their hangar upon entering a station with no other ship
2. Add a button to "Request a Rookie Ship" that will deliver a rookie ship to you as long as you don't already have one in your personal hangar. Obviously you don't want people to just spam the button and get thousands of ships.
This would help solve not only the problems I mentioned above, but I can see (as a developer myself) that there would be a good load taken off the storage/management of the player database for not having all these noobships being puked out into every hangar in New Eden :) |

That was just recently made possible :) Why isn't that desirable? |

Definitely -- I think that could be a game option to be toggled one way or the other |

I suppose to avoid players getting millions of ships it should be restricted to one free rookie ship per dock, so you'd need to undock and redock to get another one. Otherwise supported. |

Absolutely not supported unless it is impossible to then fit a cyno to a rookie ship.
Cargo-expand your interceptor and put the cyno on it. |

I am curious for why there is such more hatred for cynos on noob ships, and why this feature would change something in regards to that? I can already dock in an interceptor, contract my ship to myself, undock/redock and grab a noobship that way,
What's the hatred toward noobships with cynos? It's been like that for awhile. |

I am for making it so people can remove the newb ships sitting in all the hangars that are not uses.
I am against the ability to use a newb ship for a cyno because people don't want to lose a real ship... kind of like an exploit as I see it. |

It was explicitly made awhile back where the cargo of a noobship was expanded specifically to have the ability with a high enough cyno skill that one could fit enough LO in it to use it for cynos -- not an exploit, this was actually a feature added about a year or so ago |

Still, just because CCP goes and does a thing, it does not mean that thing is good. |

I do that for regular stations that I jump to in order to get to empire and back to null-sec, but for all the other stations it's a big annoyance :) |

i like this idea but i also think that noob ships while yes they should be able to fit a cyno but make it so they need either a co-processor /processor Overclocking rig or a aux power control along with both cpu management and powergrid man @ 5 |

I'd definitely prefer to keep noobships as they are right now as far as being able to fit a cyno without anything else needed.
You still need some decent skills to fit it without any other modules. |

Yes this is my #1 reason for doing it too... I can see how it'd make a huge performance enhancement on their database processing without tens of thousands of pilots always getting noobships for each station they land in without a ship |

this, unless you get podded, then you get a "freebie" token that can circumvent the "only one per [time]" rule (you still have to request it though). While probably not the end of the world - there have been times after I've moved that I get podded back a bazillion jumps because I forgot to move my clone.
edit - clarity. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia |

I definitely think there should be a timer as well -- but maybe 10-15 minutes, not 30 |
