That might have already been discussed but well... worth a try
What about creating a feature allowing players to buy SP's with ISK's ? It should make SP grinding a bit faster and players wouldn't be easily bored when seeing a 30+ days long skill they need.
Let's talk about the settings :
- 1 SP = 200 ISK ( Can be discussed ... )
- Limited Sale per Account AND per month, let's say 256,000 ( Can be discussed too, Just above 50m for instance ), as a reference for one Rank 1 skill ( This would keep equality between all players )
- High level skills cannot receive bought SP's, let's say any skill which Rank > 8 ( Can be discussed three ( ),To keep a relative interest and a little pain to get a Cap Ship and stuff like that )
- Once you invest bought SPs in a skill, you can't invest SP's in an other skill until that skill is at max level ( I don't really like that one but no doubt someone would have proposed that soon or late )
I don't have any other ideas about the settings yet, but feel free to post yours if you have, and your feelings about the idea :) _________________________________________

I agree !
But only for Noob'skill ( <= rank 4 ) , and then Noobs will be able to play with the olders quickly.
It sounds really a good idea !

good idea but any idea to speed up training needs to be fair and across the board so its fair to all this is actually quite fair as it is limited in isk and afects all players ------------------------------------ fix eves industrial sector!

Already discussed, too tired to search it right now.
I don't like the idea, sorry, I like SPs being only time based.

so we'd get time-based plus grind-based skills. country and western....
Bad idea, it encourages farming and grinding and gives advantage to people who buy isk on ebay or have all day to farm isk in the belts. Current system rewards longevity and that is fine.

I'm thinking something along the lines, happy R&D pilot get a T2 BPO, sells it for 200bn, buys 1bn SP, and has now more skill points that is even possible. Just to bring something constructive I would say that there would be the need for a highly exponential curve, either for bought SP or for the LVL. That is, if you have bought 10 SP it costs 10 ISK, if you have bought 100 SP it costs e.g. 1000 ISK.
That way you would quickly come to the point where buying ISK requires huge amounts of money and isn't profitable.
But then again... why not just... add another set of attributes skills and put them at 100m each, and now you have the same effect, just not overpowered.
Just settle with the idea instead that you won't get past someone in SP if that person has played very long... and it should be that way or it gets WoW all over.

12bil isk = 1 SP or $5000 = 1 SP
I'm ok with that

That's a fair price in my book. Or how about we just award 500 skillpoints every time you get podded with an alpha-grade clone? I think that would be nice.

LIMIT SALE PER ACCOUNT AND PER MONTH.
He said it in the OP, freaking....read.
The way the OP has it, about 50 mil a month will max your bought SPs. That's fair for anyone who's played over 3 mo. (i.e. anyone who will probably stick with the game for a while). It accelerates your skilling for more time invested in the game. It works along with time-based skilling, because it's both time and money based.
Where were your arguments coming from people?

And causes the players who dont have any actual isk (players who mine to build ships for themselves and dont bother having and real money - yes they exist) and players who dont have much money anyway to become very far behind other players.
Yeah... sure.. great idea.

Dimitrius you are never anything but negative. It would be better if you never posted again.
How do you manage to invent so many points where you disagree while being unable to invent anything to constructively add or anything at all besides objections.
If you disagree with an idea offer a better solution or if the current state is best explain why.

I don't like the idea. We have implants already that help speed up SP gain and that's enough. This idea is like farming rats for SP... the moment this game feels like work, I'll stop playing and don't say "well you don't have to buy SP" because, I don't want to lose to people the same age as me becuase they were able to buy tons of SP that I didn't bother.
P.S. this is coming from a guy that is worth around 1 bill isk. The guys who are less wealthy would be really screwed. Think of all the miners in empire working their tales off to get SP, ... poor miners.
