So I just picked up and kitted out my shiny new Maller and was cruising around feeling all tough and pleased with myself. Went over to a pirate spawn and blasted away like never before - med lasers and a smartbomb to take care of incoming missiles - no worries.
Then I start picking up the loot drops - without switching off my smartbomb - only to stray within splash-damage range of a sentry gun.........
Within 5 seconds I was in my pod with a friendly message from Concord nestling in my inbox.
Arse.

ugh , never use smartbomb on auto-repeat :p now to mention , half the missiles probably land on you till it recharges. -------------------------

I was mining with my corp mates once protecting them while they mined, 4 pirates showed up and I began shooting 5minutes later I thought damn these pirates are tough only to notice Id been firing at at roid for 5 mins .

You're damn-right I wont make the same mistake twice! For anyone who hates being blown up by PvP - the only thing worse is being blown up because of your (my) own stupidity.
P.S. Any donations to the fool-fund so I can get my Maller back are more than welcome

There has been mention from the developers the pirates around the jump gates would be removed so splash damage and situations like this do not result in the death of a player. I am not sure of the time frame on this issue though.

Don't get me wrong - I've got no problem with there being pirates at gates - just be aware of what can happen. Those sentry guns don't mess about you know.

They should be moved away. Not just for the splash issue, but because the system will not allow someone to jump who has just engaged in hostile activities. This will help to prevent abuse of the system and accidents.

Just out of interest, how does sentry-gun weapon power compare with other PC and non PC weaponry (like Concord officers etc)?

I had a sentry gun take my merlin out in 2 hits. the first hit took m down to about 20% hull.
I'd like pirates to be moved away from gates as well. Mainly because it doesn't make sense. if a player attacked me near a sentry gun they would be dust. However pirates can attack me all day and the sentry guns don't care.
