hello all,
I have searched and read and tried various things, but cannot get eve to work on my notebook.
DirectX is updated, I have updated my video drivers from vendor website and even tried the resStuff fix. Even the omega drivers did not help (had to remove them eventually).
My config; HP nx7010 1.6Ghz intel Radeon mobility 9200 1.25 gb of ram windows xp pro SP2. I have tried various resolutions, color depths and levles of hardware acceleration.
Other direct X games work fine.
I start eve, the splash screen appears, then turns black, then even freezes, and eventually windows goes into 640x480 mode and tells me that there is a serious problem.
I have a trial account on a friends computer, and really like the game...but cannot play it yet ~ thus sadly, if I do not get this working, I cant play the game.
any help would be wonderful.
thanks

What does Windows tell you about this "serious problem"? Do you get a bluescreen, or what? And if so, what error is listed?

After the splash screend is replaced with a black box, the eventual windows error box appears; its title is; Windows - Display Driver Stopped Responding. the text in the box is ; The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a dialog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data bout this failure to microsoft.
I have the newest driver I could find for my notebook; ATI 6.14.10.6422
thanks.

Hi there,
I've also had the same problem on my NX7010. Am still int he process of trying to fix it. The problem is the latest drivers from HP don't seem to cut it.
So, this effort involves older catalyst drivers (5.6) and DHmodtool3 to try to get the driverss in and running and see if eve will run with the graphics driver. DON'T try to force the latest drivers in. tried that first and resulted in a reinstall of windows.
I'll post to let you know if i was a sucess when i get this rather long winded process sorted through

Edited by: Sevarus James on 02/08/2006 08:18:53 Ditto to ati issues with the later drivers. compaq x1000 laptop with radeon 9000 (called 9200, but in reality.....)
The ONLY drivers that work are the omega, and the 5.6 or OLDER ONLY. (At least for the compaq X1000 lappie anyway.)
The newer drivers for these chipsets have serious problems if they work at all.
With the older omega's EVE plays fine....with decent if not great frame rate. ----- ------------

Very true, I have had serious prob's using the latest ati drivers on my 9600pro ( time to upgrade, i know ) but with the older omega ones you would be fine I think.
