An underground fight club in EVE!
Everyday a low sec system would in each region of space would randomly select a station with in the region. This station would serve as the meeting place for the Deathmatch Tournament. A FC with a fleet docked up at that station would then enter some information in to be matched with another fleet in another region. The FC could enter some criteria into a match making que wager on the deathmatch which the winner receives, fleet size, and ship limitations. Someone in another system would then do the same process and the computer would match them. The application for a match would be valid for 15 minutes and if no comparable applications were found it would be revoked. Another application could then be requested. Once an application is accepted the Fleet members of both parties will have 1 min to accept then they will be given 2 minute to prepare their fleet. There will then be a 2 minute window for observer betting on the match. They will then be undocked below the station, which has a visible protective bubble which leads to a warp gate below the station. The match will then be started by a countdown and they will be able to warp to an CCP created system. This system can be what is used in Alliance tournament matches. Podding is allowed and all rules in EVE will still apply. The match will last 15 minutes. At 7.5 minutes the computer will collapse the space forcing the remaining ships to become closer to each other till the space is 5km. Once there is a winning team according to the rules the Pirate's underground will show up on the field and destroy the fleet/pod of the team that has been declared to be losing.
Criteria for matches:
Wager amount. 1million-10billion. Each member of the fleet, must be docked up and have an equal percentage of the proposed wager amount, which will be put into escrow once the application has been submitted. Each player will be asked if they are fine with the amount. The winning team will then split the winnings. There will be NO TAXES, due to this being an underground event. ie. FC selectes 1b and has 5 total people in fleet. Each member will contribute 200m to the wager.
Fleet size. Number of members in fleet will be entered, and an allowable size to be matched against will also be selected which will never be selectable as a lesser number, but will be allowed to be a larger number. ie. A 5 member fleet can select to be matched against another fleet choosing a minimum of 5 members to battle but can select up to any number of people. This allows a 5 member group to fight as many as they want to get a preference on battles.
Battle. Each person who loses their ship will be podded if their team loses.
Spectators. People who are docked in the staging station can watch the match, and place a wager on the match with other people.
I have not decided on salvaging/looting. That is up for discussion.
Limit of 5 matches per day.
This is just an idea that I would like to see implemented in some form. It would create low sec systems where pirates would gank, where people would be trying to move ships to in order to compete and would be rotating daily or every 3 days or something. I think this would give more reason to go into low sec. I think this should be an automated deal so that there does not need to be anyone controlling it.I think this would create more enthusiasm for the Alliance tournament.

Sounds fun. Nothing stopping you from starting that yourself. Ask around and I'm sure someone with programming experience would make you an app for this, with a bit of incentive. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong. |

I think this is a cool idea you could eve have pirate leagues from time to time as well, it could also be used to let new fcs square off against players to learn the ropes abit. |

Wouldn't duelling in high sec be better for a fight club?
What you are proposing just doesn't seem worthy of the name. It's stil la good idea, just not what I think of when I read 'Fight Club' in EVE. |

I think the whole idea of fight club is its has to be underground. There has to be risk to get to the site to compete in the deathmatch. With it being a low sec system there would be gate camps that would kill the constestants, and it would flow more the gambling on the match. |

I think you're forgetting something, many of the folks who live in low sec are already participating in "fight club," day after day. It's just disorganized, and unstructured, also it only costs "contestants" there ships. Granted there's no prize pool per say, but then beating someone's ship to scrap is often times reward enough. |

Of course, all Eve rules apply but your arena would be in a special system behind special gate inside special bubble. Riiight... Do you want magic bullets that only make damage until hull is reached too? I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

I think whoever loses their ship also gets podded by the pirate faction that is holding the match. |

I think OP is looking for a different game that isn't EVE. Maybe WoW or Wildstar.
In EVE we already have "fight clubs" and we don't use matchmaking servers. Those are for instance-based games. If you want a fleet fight, get a fleet together and roam. You don't need a special arena to PvP in; New Eden is already your PvP arena. |

First rule about Fight Club
...
There is nothing hindering anyone doing this and I always appreciate player driven events, but it is a community feature and does not belong into the tech forum.
Communication Center Live Events would be my best bet.
Otherwise, Second rule about Fight Club Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |

You don't need a special arena to PvP in; New Eden is already your PvP arena. I think the idea is more of a gladitorial Vegas idea than a "complaint"/replacement for standard PvP. I could see it being used frequently for a host of different reasons, it could become a sub-playstyle like bounty hunting, and I think that a key part of the idea is the wager which turns it from PvP into a cagematch. Should spectators be allowed? Sure! They just don't get any special privileges or protections, they just sit in space in lowsec and watch and maybe fights break out on the fringes. This also could be an extension of the duel function in high sec, a progression if you will.
I think, with this idea, the devil would be in the details. |
