For the past week or 3, any chat channel I join, I can only seen the text that is typed by my corp mates or myself, i can't see anyone elses.
I go into recruitement channel, and it shows no messages for hours... that is NOT normal. I've had corp members read what others are posting, but I can't see it.
I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled eve 3 times.
The last time, I was a clean install, I didn't copy over my settings or anything, so I logged into the game with all the default settings. I then joined the recruitment channel, and STILL couldn't see anything. I check with other channels, and still nothing.
Anyone encountered this? The only other thing I can think of doing from my side is a full format/reinstall.

I have two accounts and 2 systems running Eve, and once in a while the computer that my wife's account is on looses corp chat. She can still see other channels she's subscribed, and gang chat, but not corp. The only way I've found to get it back is to restart the client, but that only works for a while (20-30 min) sometimes. I don't have the problem with my main system though. Both computers are using nvidia cards, but mine is newer than hers (of course  ), and some of my corp mates who have this problem all seem to have nvidia cards. Check to make sure you have the newest drivers, and if all else fails, try a different video card.

Hello,
i have the same problem! i only can see messages from people that are in my adressbook, crazy!
did some one found a answer for that problem?
(by the way im using a ati card, after 4 month working perfectly on my system this problem was shown up)

I have the same problem, can't see any messages /except my own/ in chat windows for a couple of days now. And it's really annoying with our alliance beeing at war etc.
I got also Ati card, but everything was fine untill now and I haven't changed anything in my system recently. Buggy Eve client.

This problem is not related to hardware configuration. I logged on with different alt /on the same account and same computer/ and everything was ok. But my main still cannot communicate.

When you did the reinstall of Eve, did you pull the latest client from the server? or did you install from and older client and then patched it?
Back when you couldn't see anything typed in local when you jumped into a new system, I downloaded the full version of the client, unistalled, and reinstalled the full version without patching. This fixed my problem.
Also, some people report turning off portraits in chat fixes the problem.
Try deleteing the machonet folder in the cache directory/dont copy you cache directory back over a new install. ( which from the post looks like has already been done ).

This might sound odd but one of the fixes is;
Go to your inbox settings, make sure you don't have "default blocked" but either "CPRA message etc" or the other option. If you have default blocked somehow on some channels you only see people speak that are on your buddy list, how odd that might sound.

related chat bugs:
Chat channels take forever to appear at all upon log in. Seriously, I logged on, undocked, and flew three systems over before they all popped up, including local and corp.
Some corp public channels are messed up at the moment. I can show any dev/gm one specific one I know of upon request. Evemail me. The problem is no one on the channel can see anything anyone types in it, even themselves, a la the old 'local bugs and stops working once in a while' style. Channel has been borked since Wednesday.
Private convos take so godawful long to initiate that folks think you must have been afk. And I'm talking about buddylist people who you don't recieve invite notices from, the people that are able to automatically initiate a convo because you have them whitelisted.

I wanted to say that I have the same thing once and a while and it's only the Corp channel  . Can be annoying at times.
Will try some of the suggestions.

I had the no text in chat issue, sometimes it was there sometimes not, but the fix above sorted it, cheers Lucid, your right it sounds odd but worked.
