I'm trying to do the "Worlds Collide" Mission from "Rinsutidur Rildboko".
The mission states: Rescue the stranded crewmembers from the damaged ship next to the research outpost in the last room of this deadspace complex.
I'm a bit confused. At the start of the mission there are two accelleration gates leading to each side's base. Both seem to lead to sertain death.
Am I supposed to go through one of these gates. If so, any hints on how I'm supposed to survive?

Edited by: Goulart on 19/06/2006 23:27:02 The gate in the right side is the way to the third gate, that leads to the survivors. Theres a very hard battle before it
I think theres no way to avoid it, stay prepared to fight, warp back to base, repair your ship and return to the battle one or two times
Fit your frigate very well with missiles, shield boosters and armor upgrades, and will be fine.
sorry my poor english

If this is the level 1 version, the easy way to do it early on is with a fast frigate rushing through the first two areas without fighting. (I've done it in a Condor, a Slasher, and a Rifter, all with Afterburners.) In the last area you have to kill everything to access the ship you're supposed to rescue, but it's a manageable fight for a rookie.
One more tip: I've only done the Caldari version, but in that one at least, the Cartel gate in the first area always seems to put me in a better spot than the Gurista gate.

WC is by far the hardest lvl 1 mission. I was given WC as my first non tutorial mission, while I was still flying around in an Ibis. I got creamed Anyways, when you warp in, you'll be about 30km away from either acceleration gate. The factions change depending on region, but generaly the gate on the left is the easier one (from your warp in position) Engage your after burner towards the left gate. The rats you see are about 70-130km further out, so you should have no trouble getting to the gate. As a new player, there is almost no change you can take on the rats inside the second area. Afterburner directly to the second gate to get the third area. The third area is filled with low level rats, and can be done easily in most ships.
The trick to surviving the second area is to get your speed past 600m/s. I'm Caldari so a Condor with 1MN after burner gets me 800m/s with low skills. Thats plenty fast enough to reach the second gate before getting blown up. After that, pick off the low lvl rats, and save the crew!

Um yess. well that was fun. I took the right hand gate as sudgested, first thing that happened was a rocket/missile knocked of 50% of my shields, coupled with the lazers, the second one took off half my armour too.

I did take the advice about the afterburner, tho as a newby I had to learn the skill first.
Okay, on the fourth attempt I diddnt chicken out. 1/4 of my hull remaining I managed to get to the accelleration gate. Using my shield booster in warp, the pirates in the third stage were a piece of cake (but then I have my rifter pretty gunned up).
Thanks for all your help

Read mission detail. use gate who held crew at research outpost. at first room you don't need kill npc just AB to gate then active. in next room kill 2 npcs at warp-in point. you can kill other 3 npcs on way to second gates or just AB to gate. in last room 4-5 will aggro you after warp, don't touch other npcs(I think they won't aggro you until you start shoot them) then grab crew and warp out. npcs in last room are paper they pop in 1-2 volley, kill them if you want more cash =/

Lag and/or bad luck perhaps? I've gotten knocked around some, but never that bad.
Well, glad it worked out anyway. * * *

Tried this in a Griffin, got zapped halfway to the second gate. Tried with an Afterbunrer on a Condor, got zapped before reaching full speed. Got ****ed, saved up, got me a destroyer (Cormorant). Guess what, I got zapped. Not unlike others, Got almost half my shields knocked out by the first missile, before reaching full speed (the cormorant has over 400 shields!). The rest vanished pretty quickly, and I hadn't enough time to warp out of there.
Difficult? That would be fine. Disproportionate, that's what gets me. There's little or no warning of how much more dangerous than previous missions it is, and you end up losing all your precious equipment.
(On top of which the insurance value on the Cormorant is 250k under what they seem to go for these days, and costs 250k itself, so we're talking about dropping 500k in a matter of moments. Me no happy bunny)
I'll go try it one more time with a maxed defence Condor, and see what happens...

Ok, went by the left gate with the Cormorant, and did it no prob. Maybe it's a question of the gate you choose; maybe it's a question of where the bad guys happen to be when you warp throguh. Who knows. That's me relieved anyway.
Cheers for the advice.

I've had this mission about 9 times this week trying to raise some faction. With that said there is one way to make this mission super easy..
Range 20km+ They can't hit you.
A destroyer should walk through this mission with: gun skills at 3, eng/elec 5 plus able to use a AB. There is only two areas where you get insta locked and cannot set your range before agro. These are the initial warp in of the 2nd and 3rd stage. The rest of the ships you should be able to keep at range considering most don't do over 300m/s. You can almost instapop every ship in this whole mission at ranges they can't return fire at.
My setup: 8 150's w/(iron or lead, which ever gives the 60% range) killing range is 18-30km's and I carry antimatter for the initial warp in agro. AB to keep some range. What ever else you need to make it fit. Hell I don't ever even get below 1/3 shields. Hope this helps

Edited by: Freelancemen on 23/10/2006 14:09:28 Edited by: Freelancemen on 23/10/2006 14:08:30 I've played that mission 2x (gotten it 2x from an agent ;)) and found out there can be a MAJOR difference in the difficulty. First time i went in alone and had to warp out almost instantanious. Tried 2-3 more times not a chance. I asked a teammate to join up and we both had major problems making it and had to warp out 2-3x together! We were both flying a cormorant and nicely stacked with decent skills and eventually we made it.
Then a few days later i got it again and asked another teammate to help again before even trying as i knew the difficulty and guess what...it was damn easy and i could have done it alone without a problem. Guess it's based on "luck" which one you get?
My advice, ask for help of a teammate or if none around ask in local, there should be someone willing to help.

This mission is horrible, I don't see how anybody has completed it in any ship. As some people mentioned above you are dead before you can even warp anywhere. I tried it once in a moderately setup Rifter and died immediately. I went back with a better setup rifter and still was blown to pieces in seconds. The first one only had civilian stuff equipped, the second one had real stuff, I had a hull upgrade, damage reduction module, shield booster 1. Still, even with the shield booster on, I was blown to bits before I could fly anywhere. My shields were below 50% after the first hit.
I'll never do this mission again, it's not worth it. I lost ~2m ISK in one night on this mission. Screw it.

Been awhile since I've done this mission (level 1), but I'll give you my thoughts since it's not really that difficult (perhaps have someone show you how to run it in game).
The first area is a race. Basically you warp in and start out about 30 km from both gates and you need to make a choice fast. Both groups of enemies are about 90-110km away from you meaning about 60-80km away from their respective gate. You need to decide quickly which gate to go to and move immediately. Hesitation only increases your chances of death.
Is there a correct gate choice? I'd say yes. I believe (if your two rat factions are Guristas and Angel), the correct choice would be the Cartel base (but I could be mistaken). I reason this because their main form of damage is explosive, which most typical ships have 60% resistance on shields. But that's besides the point, you shouldn't be getting hit in the first area at all. Period.
The second room is a little scarier, but still easy. On warp in, do NOT move. You should aggro AT MOST two enemies on warp-in that can be taken down easily. If you've aggroed more than two on warp-in, I'd reason that you picked the wrong gate. Find the gate out and head directly towards it. If you want to take out the three enemies between you and the gate, that's fine, but be careful not to aggro anything else.
The third room is cheese. The enemies in this room are much easier than the enemies in the second room.
The biggest thing I can suggest at this point is do NOT attempt to kill anything in the first room. Not only is it not necessary, you will most likely get your face wiped into the floor (iirc, the worst thing they throw at you is target jamming, but the amount of dps the group puts out is certainly not tankable by a normal frig or destroyer). Also, make sure you pick the right gate (because I definitely feel that one gate is much easier than the other).
Only assault frigs (and maybe covert ops ships) can really hope to kill the stuff in the first and second rooms due to increased dps output and/or increased shield resistances.

I have done the gallente version a lot of times. For the Gallente the Serpentis gate is the easyest as serp do mostrly short range damage.
My tactis: best race frigate (Tristam), destroyer only if you have serious skills, as the larger signature is a disavantage. And put up some extra armor or shield and a repper or booster. Eventually even a combo of light armor repairer and civilian shield booster unless you have the skill to fit a shield extender instead. With a ranged set up you can easily kill all the opponents before the gates in the first area, using some time and long range fire. As soon as I warp in the second area I put up max speed and an AB. Initially direction isn't so important as trasversal and speed. Try only to open range on your enemyes while killing some of the nearest. The enemy ships don't use AB so you should gain range well before you lose hull. Use your shield booster and/or armor repairer to recover some of the shield and/or armor. When you are at the long range from your guns and out of range from most or all of the enemyes, disactive the AB (probably it has gone out for lack of capacity about at this time) and start killing the nearest enemyes. Keepin the range you can kill the whole room with little risk while repairing armor and shield with leisure. whe the enemyes are few you can start returning at the nearest gate, kill the last ones and pass. The third room is easy. With a good frigate you can kill all the enemy ships and get some good bounty.

This mission is very easy when you get the hang of it.
- Warp in - Afterburn to the leftside gate (the left side always seems to be easiest) - Kill 2 npc's on warp-in in the second area - Afterburn to the research facility gate - Kill 3 npc's on warp-in in the third area - Rescue the people from the damaged ship
And it's done, can be done in about 5 mins

Personally I'd recommend doing the mission in a destroyer, it just seems so much easier to pop the guys...
Also (and this is important) do the mission ALONE. Guys get harder to kill when there's more people there.
Outfit your ship with longer range weapons, 15-20km optimal range works well. Then, fly away from all the npc's, at a rate which is slightly slower then that at which the npc's are moving (at the beginning go as fast as possible to get to your optimal range) At the third gate, the instant you warp in, keep flying in the direction you're facing. That will quickly put some distance between you and the guys targetting you.
Purely out of curiousity, has anyone gone through the gate in the area with the damaged heron? I think it's called warzone or something like that. I wouldn't mind finding out where it leads, but I'm afraid I might get my ship torn apart

The trick is going through the correct gate. One gate is very hard and the other one is doable.
You do not have to take out all spawns in the 2nd room, you can either race through or (easier way) kill the spawns that aggroes you when you enter, then kill the spawn that's at the gate, ignoring all other spawns.
Make sure you're fitting a good tank on your frig (shield booster+2x resistance amplifiers for shield tanked, armor repper+2x resistance plates for armor tanked).
Shouldn't even come close to dying, when doing WC in your best racial frig.

I've only taken that gate on the l4 version but I assume both the l1 and l4 versions operate the same way. The "Gate to the Warzone" takes you back to the first area you warped into after accepting the mission. For the l4 version, I like to take out the Serpentis rats, take the gate to the Serpentis base, kill the whole lvl, take the gate to the research outpost, kill everything and get the crewmembers I need. Then I take the gate to the warzone and attack the guristas I had previously left alone .
Basically the gates operate in a sort of circle so no matter which path you take, you can get back to where you started.

i must've done this mission like 30 times by now, the most effective way i've found is taking a destroyer (i use a coercer because it has more low slots) outfitting an afterburner, a small armor repairer, and the rest of your low slots with nanofiber internal structures. Run through the first two gates ( i usually get to about 1/2 armor by the end) and then pop the wimpy NPCs at the last area. With my setup it usually takes about 2-3 mins.

That is the way the mission is done. No frig can hope to gun down the enemies in the first 2 stages, so you just skip them. The 3rd stage rats are for some reason a great deal weaker.

The level one agent in Rens seems to spit this out every four missions or so and I have lost count of the number of times I've flown it.
I disagree about the first area. I use an Incursus and can easily pop all the targets near the easy (left) gate. I can even take down the rest though it can get hairy if you do.
There is no point as a newish pilot trying to tackle the guys in the second area even if you take the easy one. Target and kill the two nearest you as you AB toward the next gate.
Kill everything in the last area. They are very easy.
On the ones I've done the last gate takes you to the start again where if you can be bothered you can clean up what you didn't get the first time or take out any respawns. Don't take any risks with your ship once you have the crew though because they can get destroyed and you have to fail the mission if they do.
I dragged my 18month in game skilled up buddy along in this in his Assault Frig and he was very surprised at how hard it was. We did get everything but my boat got popped with the crew on board which made the whole exercise null and void.
It's worth noting there is no point going back and trying it with your first cruiser as it wont fit through the gates.

This one caused me much difficulty when I first got it too. I lost many frigates learning how to do it. I'm doing this for Gallente agents, and I've only done it at level 1 so far. Your results may vary.
I haven't actually tried it in a Velator, but I suspect it is possible. For a while, I had an Atron named "World Collider" that I kept it around solely for doing this mission (my normal ship being too big for the gates). I think I've done it with every type of Gallente frigate by now too.
When fitting your ship, mount the afterburner first, then your tanking modules, and then fit in a gun with whatever you have left. You can easily kill the few ships that you need to kill with a crappy gun.
When I first come in, I go for the left gate. I don't recall which faction is on the left side, but the ships on the right side always start locking me up from 100km+ as I make the run to the left.
At the second room, head straight to the next gate. Afterburners really help here, because you'll take fire from three or four enemy ships as you run over.
In the third room, I immediately approach the Heron. Only a few of the ships here will lock you up, and those are the exact ones you need to kill to allow transfers. These ships are really weak. A single light drone should be able to clear them all out without much help from your ship. If you've got multiple drones, just launch them and go get something to drink while they kill everything.
Once they are dead, transfer the crew from the Heron, double check your mission text, and warp out.

I don't know what the problem is here. I got this mission in my first 6-8 missions when I started playing. I had a condor w/ a cheap named AB, missle, rail, small shield, and a booster. I did the mission exactly as Soi mentioned and even got hung on a roid for a few seconds but still did fine. Its really not that hard.

As far as I remember, my Merlin dispatched the first room and the 2nd angel cartel room with no problems (I didn't know better at that time :P). The Guristas base was deadly tho.
