Edited by: Papa Doc on 27/09/2003 16:45:36 i Keep hearing this over and over again but after reviewing and looking at the map closer the regions to get mega from are most blockaded by PC or the region is in state of war between differant corporations. Just how eve was ment to be at the first place. I even screamed darn shortness but now iam looking at it from a differant view. Its just like real live and somethings just don`t come easy.
The game is based on >>>teamplay<<< So create escorted convoys and break thoose darn blockades. Time whit ohters when to go mine in thoose dangerous regions. K ships wil be lost and players podded. But talk to eachother and create a fund in that mining joint venture to replace lost ships and equip.
Just be resourcefull and don`t expect the easy way.
OK thrue some roid tweaking could be still handy i have to admit that to. But looking at the map i see most of the time in the areas that have bistot or ohter ores no players at all cause its blocked by war between corporations or PC blockades
PS. look at our own world with the oil prices and how the jump up and down.

Yeah, but the issue is even in the outer rim of Eve, the Bistot is not regrowing fast enough.

Actually it would be interesting to see how this develops. I mean Battleships were way too easy to get so almost everyone has it. Now that its getting much harder to replace a battleship we might starting to get cruisers and even frigs again :)

I think it's very good that some resources are hard to get and very very expensive. Just like in real life, find gold and get rich. If battleships get harder to get that's just a bonus since smaller corps benefits.Today you can't do anything at all with frigates it would be cool if they could get some kind of status too.

Or people will discover that refining those 50k loot will get you megacyte...

Tell that to Mercenary Frigates. They are causing a ruckus today.

Why the sudden decrease in Megacyte 'roids you ask?
Simple: CCP want to control the amount of battleships in circulation. The way things where any yuppie with too much time on their hands could get themselves a battleship in about 2 or 3 weeks, provided they are alrady in posession of a cruiser.
Battleships are seen as the very best a player can be. The pinnacle of technology, and the ultimate status symbol. If having a battleship is pretty much the final rung in a character's development then it should be not a matter of weeks, but months to accomplish this.
imho of course

Just one problem:
The shortage has nothing to do with breaking blockades. Sure, come try to break into an alliance controlled region.
Good luck finding reasonable quantities of bistot within 3-4 jumps of a station.
The reason megacyte prices have gone up is because it's become mined out. Consider yourself lucky that prices have only doubled since the babyroid bug hit, since the effort required to obtain it has more than doubled since then. (Instead of requiring 1 hauler for 2-3 battleships mining, 1 hauler per BS is required for a 1-jump mining op, and 2-3+ haulers per BS are required for the 3-4 jump mining ops required to find more than 300 bistot in a single belt.) ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Part of the shortage, I feel is the attrition rate due to wars and pirates, no region can support a constant drain on resources. Each time there is a conflict, ships are lost and more high end minerals are consumed to replace the loss. If a corp looses 2 battleships breaking a blockade to get their ore through and kills a couple of pirates doing so, then a portion of that mega is needed to replace those ships.
As wars and blockades are a large part of the game, over comming this isn't going to be easy until more resources can get where they are needed.
Hopefuly the new refining platforms and factories will ease this situation when they enter the game, as long as the ores are available to mine.
Hopefuly the new refining platforms and factories will ease this situation when they enter the game, as it will enable the mining of the most remote systems possible, so long as the minerals etc can get to where they are needed. ** Eve...The final frontier....To boldly explode, where no one's exploded before ** |

negative your skills are your acomplishment as that bears true to how experienced u are in the game. A battleship could have just been given to you by your corp.
I would like to see low numbers of battleships and more cruiser battles. be it a limitation to how many battleships 1 corp can operate or a shortage in the vital minerals to make them.
also i'd like to see more trade items introduced and max market range done by constelltation or even solar system to really get people exploring.
and back to megacyte maybe CCP are implementing drastic changes but imo too late. Everyones hoped in the largest ship and set sail.
so if manufactureing is startign to slump and mining starting to see les rare mins and the only other option is trade, CCp need to implement another source of income.

Actually i think that player owned station and mobile refineries are needed badly.
Its not uncomon to go 30-40 jumps from station to mine few hundreds of bistots and i don't remeber when was last time i saw ark (few months ago).
At least mobile refineries would speed up proces of transporting minerals to stations and cut on this insanity of indy racing.

True its even harder to find arkanor. But have to pointout when thoose mobile refiners come there could be a next problem seeing empty roidfields. Don`t get me wrong her i like to see thoose mobiles but it could happen that after a while we get the same problem again with the more rare ores??
Iam mining deepspace each time i need to get mega. Ok its a slow process but i get the job done and get a view loads using the convoy option (escorted) and alot of searching. Baby roids that part is thrue also i mine 88/100 units from a bis roid then it pops i wait a day and there it is again but only contains bout 14/40 units bis. So i see the problem there. point is i get the bis i need. And iam not in a big corp i only get help from differant players who help running it down for us and i do it visaversa for them. Also thrue we can never compete with the mega corporations in the game but i never saw that as a issue thats how things are in the game and also in the real world. Point is i have fun playing.

Edited by: Keo Morigan on 28/09/2003 12:01:34 I dreamed I was out hunting rats and saw a "Bistot lvl II" rock. And when looking more careful, I discovered several other lvl 2 rocks, including a giant one, "Scordite lvl 2". Don't know what my dream means, but I think it means that the miners need some new ore.. Like spodumain and Arknor?
edit: Stop crying just because you can't get the best ore in the game without the risk to get attacked by NPCs and players.
If your not a part of the solution, then you'r probably a part of the problem. |

Do they improve the asteroid replenishement system since release? Cause its sure that there's more players than when the game was release. So, more players, more mining. More mining, less ore... ____________________________________________

You know, you might very well be the first pirate clan that I actually respect. Taking the fight to a test of skill rather than of just throwing a big battleship at something takes balls.

Thx for the support there i have forgot to point out that the mobile refineries only do a surtian % of what you could refine in a station. So do the math what would happen at this stage inspace to roid fields. They where never ment to give the full 100% yield from what you would get in stations.

mobile refineries will increase profit per hour for sure. the questions is do you go for efficiency, raw profit or greatest output? it is up to you as a corporation to decide.

The roid growth may be bugged atm, what isn't? However, consider this.... 90pct of Eve's miner population are carebears, if these cute fluffy things ever grow any ballz and leave 1.0 space and find their way to 0.0 space we might see an increased ammount of rare minerals hitting the markets. Alas this will never happen, nevermind more waste to be recovered. A proud member of the Concord Waste Recovery Team |

that will still not work... if mobile refineries dont give as much as they should... hmm that means that you are pretty much mining something that is rare but getting its value of something that is maybe 1 step lower
so how willl this fix the cost? since you will not get same as in station, regardless of how much you mine it will not be the same amount in vallue as it is now...
also what will be that you mine all the stuff? and move on and then the ore isnt respawning fast enough?
same thing will be happening as it is now, maybe not as bad?
btw this is a game, this is not RL CCp shouldnt try to limit ppl, if they do they will just leave the game and go play some place that they can spend all the time and get there rewards worth it and have fun...
all these changes are lame, this far into the game and it shows on the player base, that is a living fact day to day. support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

Has anyone in here read either of the past two CSM chats? When the moboref's come in to the game the roid respawn issue will be fixed, also the belts are getting a re-vamp and new shapes and types of belt are getting introduced. Yes if the moboref's were in now, we would have problems with empty belts, but come on, read the CSM chats.
I'm glad that there is a shortage of mega, and as for finding Ark whoever does with the current roid respawn logic will be a very rich person, just think of the size of that roid, never been touched since day 1, growning at, maybe, an exponetal rate since the first dat of retail... how much ark would it contain? almost unlimited amounts, and TomB said that in the CSM chat 2 weeks ago!!!!... I might pester TomB for a count on how many ark roids are in the game at this weeks csm chat :)

Seems it drifted of a bit ooh wel. The Mobile refiners are set at 7,8/100% of what you would get in a station. So what lot are gonna do Deepspace is setup the refiner and just take the loss on that % And keep mining untill they have the same ammount what they would get normaly faster in stations but still saving time doing it inspace. Cause you don`t have to travel back with ores.
I did`t see that in the CSM chatlog or maybee i missed it. If they calculated that in and i did`t see it in the chat ok then its gonna be cool with me. But if not wel do the math.
They have to look at so many issues that little details get forgotten sometimes(we seen it before). Hehehe guess we are to spoiled
This started as a call for better teaming in the game but turned out to be a nice read. Hmm maybee i shoud ask a forum Mod to change the title of the ........

Edited by: sphendar on 29/09/2003 11:41:34 i agree there is not enough mega close to stations. I went on a mining op for it with 5 corp m8s in crusers and 2 in indys, one guy mining the rest covering, the indys could not keep up, it was pretty redicules really. Think my small corp will go back to buying the mega and building ships, but i dont see that being profitable to long as i have seen prices dropping on cruser(300k for a 1run thorax bp, Moa for 5mill). If this does not turn around we will be back to minining kernit and omber for income like we were a month ago:(
