It seems they are as i was just doing a mission and was pirated by BOB pilots. They basically said that BOB has "claimed" Aridia (even though its empire space lol) and they can kill whoever they please.
They just smoked another mission runner as i'm typing this. Their having their pirating fun tonight huh

Were you ransomed, or just killed? We do kill people in Aridia, this is widely known, and has been for a long time. If you continue to fly there, you do so at your own risk. Like any low sec space.

So you saying your a pirate alliance? Just clear this up for me. Because killing mission runners in 0.2 doesn't seem to gain you squat unless you count the loot, which again makes me think you are pirates.

We kill people living in Aridia. I honestly don't know how to be more blunt than that.
You are living in a region where hostilities against us are regularly launched from, a region that hosts ad least one alliance that we are hostile with, and its low sec to boot.
Fly at your own risk.

Ab Initio summed it up pretty damn well.
They kill people in Aridia becuase they claim it. Game Mechanics be damned BoB are trying to control Aridia and generally do rather well at keeping it clean.
It's all part of Molles ebil plan to control all, yes ALL of Eve. Look out next week for 100 smartbomb geddons in Jita!

never seems to make sense to me why people choose to humiliate (sp?) themselves publicly like this.
i mean, if i just got ganked i would'nt want the whole eve universe knowing about it. idunno, to each his own i guess.

Exactly what does this guy have to be ashamed of, the fact that one lone mission runner could not take out the largest alliance in the game. well if you have such skills lets see you take on BoB solo.

The fact that he got attacked in low sec while mission running. Anyone living in low sec or 0.0, should know to watch local and scanner and react appropriately.
Instead of taking this as an experience to learn from, he came on the forums and complained that someone shot at him while he flew around in low sec unprepared for combat. He could have learned something from this, instead he just blamed someone else for his problems. A character flaw seen too often in game, and out.

Well in EVE it is criminal act to shoot people in empire space which you are not at war with.
Then it is just a question about giving that type of criminality a name ... for me "pirating" fits fine.

the op is using an alt which was apparently never killed by bob. Ontop of that does their KB give no unaffiliated kills of neutrals for the timespan the op is giving (missionrunners at 1-2 am). Furthermore is the op eager to use the "pirate" label without a) understanding what the label actually means and b) without beeing "in the know" about the region he pretends to run missions in daily.
Can you spot where the credibility of the op ended and the lame hoax alt post started ? Take the first word and ull be spot on.

I think this is a bob ploy, because they infact are not in arridia. I pass thru arridia all the time and rarely see them. I see KROM out there more than i see BoB. Dont go to arridia people, because BoB say they are there.

To me, a Pirate is someone who kills others for the isk it will generate/or to RP.
If BoB is killing anyone in a region that isn't blue(Not Blue Shoot It Policy) and looting the corpse for something to do, then it's a simple PvP kill.
If they are killing you becuase you look fat and rich and they looting your body FOR the loot, hopeing to sell it for a lot of isk, then it's piracy.
One goes YARRRRR. The other goes, "NBSI." One's a pirate, the other is a PvPer... a fine line.

Chances are if your Nuetral in low security you are considered a enemy spy or hauler ALT anyways.

I like that! But to me it seems it only applies to 0.0... no one enjoys taking sec hits without some kind of a reason.

Aridia is empire space, we do not claim it, and we do not control it. Aridia is just an important region to access our space, so we pass through it all the time, and make sure nobody interferes with our supply lines

In Aridia there is no BoB piracy, because BoB in all seriousness claims the region. The fact that Aridia is a 0.1 - 0.4 empire region adds difficulty to this, but the claim is pressed at least as seriously as any 0.1 - 0.4 claim in game. Arguably BoB's Aridia claim is the most seriously pressed 0.1 - 0.4 claim in game. Anyone with any awareness is well aware of it.
So, BoB kills trespassers in Aridia.
However, if it makes you feel good to use the word "pirate", by all means please do. Most BoB members really enjoy a good "Yarr!!!" now and then.
While I'd like to see 0.5+ be a bit harder for things like suicide piracy (I don't lose sleep over the issue, but think it would be good), as soon as you hit 0.4 and below, YOU are taking a risk.
