Did you guys pay to much to corrupt the chinese authorities for the new server in a market wheres social life unknown? Do you guys wanna become like EA and bring out 3 loosey maps in a booster pack for €? do we got to pay for a new shipclass after kali?
strange strange, remember not everyone here is willing to pay for some more or less usefull stuff.

As everyone have said, VOIP, streaming and card games DO cost money to make and to produce. More then that CCP also consulted the players if they want to have a hi quality stream or a low quality stream for the alliance competition. I said I would gladly pay money for it. while others say no, they where happy enough with low quality streams.
VOIP also cost money. TS is not free! Running the servers. providing the bandwith. havin people to maintain it! All cost money! And cardgames cost money too!
Its your choise mate, wether you want to spend money on it. I will spend money on VOIP and Eve tv, but im not sure if I will spend money on the card game. THAT is MY CHOISE.
Again: your choice! its all optional anyway!

Well, all in the name of capitalism, if you can make more cash from your game, why not, they didn't force you to pay for it.
On the other hand, statements like things cost money so ccp charge you money makes me laugh, that's not the point. The point is ccp makes profit out of those things. If you buy a pair of shoes, of course those shoes cost money to make in the first place, the point is the company makes you pay more than the base cost to make a profit. Otherwise you assume you only make money when the initial product costs no investment and that's just hilarious.

I sincerely hope they make as much money as they can. CCP makes a superior product. Thier product brings me and many others, unlimited enjoyment and I imo EVE has limitless entertainment value. EVE was the first MMO i ever played. Started 05.03, left for a while, played SWG, Matrix, EQ2. Ive experienced other products and each were good in thier own way, but to me, EVE is vastly superior in many ways. CCP is innovative. CCP seems to care about thier members and is much more responsive to us then SOE is to their players.

The main difference between EA and CCP, however, is that EA has a sweet gym at their HQ with nice basketball courts and more courts outside where theres pick up games after work. Oh and they give all the employees free beer for the friday meetings. I almost forgot, they're also much bigger and employ many more people than CCP. Oh yea they also make games for console systems. I almost forgot, EA is headquartered in Redwood Shores, and CCP is halfway across the globe in Iceland.
Aside from these minor differences (among hundreds of others), yea, CCP and EA are exactly the same.

Na, they would have stopped working on Eve at least 2 months before that, then provided an 'expansion' to fix all the bugs (and casue all sorts of new ones) and charged another $49.99 for it.
And, of course, the Eve servers would have been turned off at least a year ago and Eve would have been no more.
To sum it up:
CCP > ∞

I dont like some decisions this company has made regarding game play, but as far as their not milking their customers for every last dollar possible these guys are impeccable. This is the best company in the industry in that regard.
Like others said VoIP cost money to keep up. If they gave it away for free it would be a significant cut into the profitability of this company.
Now generally they take the long view and as far as I can tell are an industry leader in paying for development with the monthly fee and then releasing that content free to players. But asking them to include sustaining voip in that philosophy isnt a practical idea imo. A large number of you arnt going to want to use the service.
Keep in mind other games milk you with a monthly fee and a yearly expansion charge..
And finally... calling them EA? damn... thats low.

its enough that i have to put up with them in BF2, i dont want to hear that name any other place... if i didnt like BF2 i would never want anything to do with EA
just the stupidity and some of the lamest bugs and what not came from bf2, as in i mean simple things like the patching issues... it was just something i havent seen in computer history, so please dont say EA anymore
thatÆs fine that CCP want to bring extra things but like others have said those things will cost lots of money to run and what notà as most have to do with bandwidth

On topic the card game is a good idea the VOIP most peeps will stay wiht ts and vent and the static patch hsa gone well including the drone plex and mission drops
