Blizzard only cares about ś and NCSoft are ******* horrible, Lineage2 is a great game (by NCSoft) but they ban the good guys and let farmers carry on their merry way. Actually NCSoft Korea is fine, the parent company, but NCSoft NA customer service staff and GMs are hired off the shortbus imo. --------------- Havocide - Old School For Old Fools F-E Forum // RKK Forum |

Yes, they did - Westwood made Earth and Beyond.

Earth and Beyond wasn't an MMO?

ok. Did I miss something? Why would CCP sell the game to EA?
After the expansion that is comeing up in China, and the number of people wanting to BETA test it, it should show that the game will be at LEAST as popular there as it is in the rest of the planet.
So that should increase CCP's income more.
So why would they sell out?
Did I miss some news or something?

Actually, at one point they were working on a C&C mmo-style project. Your unit would beable to upgrade from kills and stuff. seemed cool but not practical.

CCP is rolling in the cash and they have no need for a publisher to distribute the game they don't need to sell out. ------FD------

I thought origin was doing fine but they sold out to EA.... IMO that was the final nail in the coffin for UO. ___________________

If CCP does sell out to EA then I'll roll over and cancel my subscription! Then go live in a hole.
That aside, CCP is one of the best companies out there just because they look out for their memberbase.

Overreaction at its best. There isn't even a rumor that it's going to happen and we have people responding to it.

Not so much a reply to the highly improbable act of CCP "selling out" as much as it is a rant against EA. They (EA) have a habit of buying out companies for the sole intent of acquiring their intellectual property, slowly discarding all the original studio employees over time after cutting their pensions and benefits and whoring out their work for every last dollar they can. They've done it to several studios, Westwood wasn't the first and it wonĘt be the last either. Those who have the "honor" of having their company bought can look forward to crunching 80+ hour work weeks and holidays in order to meet unrealistic managerial expectations on release dates, without overtime!
On a somewhat unrelated note, any EA game I've purchased in the past few years has really left me feeling screwed. C&C titles are for all intensive purposes "forgotten about" a year after their release and never patched again. BF2 is also the only game I have ever played where every single patch has made the game worse than it was before ... </rant>

It was called C&C sole survivor if I remember rightly, I beta tested it a little back in something like 1996/7, was good for some quick fun but nothing long term and very simplistic compared to modern MMOs.

Problem is that EA is kinda loaded in isk, the real isk. And I'm not sure if EA ever managed to enter china like CCP has done.
Wave the iskies around and if the owners get enough to hire 15 gallente exotic dancers for the rest of their earthly life, who knows what might happen.
Just hope it won't happen.
Been their with westwood, got sold to EA, within a year the game servers went offline and u could choose free EA crappy games as replacement, what a joke.
Think CCP stated a few times that they wouldn't sell out. Only future will tell how nice islandic people really are.
