The patch changes the Vengeance quite a bit, new low slot, etc....
this is what I have so far:
3x dual light beam laser 2, 1 arbalest standard launcher names mwd, named 20km scram, named web named armor rep, nano plate 2, heat sink 2, cap relay
roughly 10km optimal range with xray, longer is possible, but of course less damage. I cooked up a setup using named medium beams:
3x best named medium beams, 1 arbalest standard launcher named ab, named 20km scram, named web named armor rep, nano plate 2, mapc, <not sure here>
it fits, and is scary longe range, but only 18 or so cpu for that last low slot, and like 1 pg if that. not sure yet what to stick there, alot of cpu to waste on cap relay.
any others? how bout some short range setups?

You can put one of those 0cpu 1 grid armor plates there. ---------------------------

ok, it seems to fit.
3x best named medium beams, 1x arbalest standard named ab, named 20km scram, named web named armor rep, nano 2 or heatsink 2, psuedoelectron containment field, mapc
with the extra resists from the damage control, you coulod try swapping out the nano plate for a heatsink 2....

ive been thinking
3x dual light tech 2 - tech 2 crystals 1x small e50 nos
1x named AB 1x named 20k scram 1x named web
1x tech 2 small rep 1x ANM 2 1x thermalic membrane 2 1x named damage control
i did want to drop the damage control for a hs but it only has 19cpu for the low slot. which sux coz it would be great.
i find the small nos as a nice adition since this is mainly a close combat setup. helping with cap even if cap skills are to 5 :)
resistences are now much greater, although you do alittle more damage as with the bonus change, i think the extra shield/armor/strut resists will help you last a few more shots and hey you dont want to be hit anyways.
its either that or swap the ab for a MWD and have a launcher in highs and a cap recharger in lows.. what you think?

Keep in mind the veng has a built in cap recharger with its bonus...
small nos is very short range too, might as well go with pulses, a 7.5km scram, and have much better fittings. Ill play with a shortrange fitting when i get home today.

20k scram is a must since you loose most of your targets otherwise..
but having the 20k scram the highslot is either the named nos or a rocket launcher...

3x Gatling Pulse II, 1x nos AB, Web, +2 Scram Repair, 2x EANM II, 1x Thermic II
It can tank anything that's using rais and arties and is able to keep blaster and autocannons at range.
Works quite well against all AF beside Ishkur at least on Sisi.

haven't changed setup since patch except for adding HS II in the remaining low. Very tight fit with that and had to get some better named stuff onboard to use it.
Would have preferred a mid, but this is still a nice update to a tough little ship.
Weirda always set up long range with this ship, and do not use a propulsion mod (AB/MWD). based on mass and design, it is obvious that the ship was not designed to fit or use it, but rather to tank/kill anything that came in it web, or reach out and pop stuff at edge of range. Unfortunately the range is shorter now, but fitting still appears to work. __ Weirda Assault Ship need 4th Bonus and More! |

3x dual light tech 2 - tech 2 crystals 1x malkuth standard launcher (so its only 20cpu because using the best named leaves u .25 unsder?!!!)
1x named AB 1x named 20k scram 1x named web
1x tech 2 small rep 1x Adaptive nano membrane 2 1x thermalic membrane 2 1x pseludoelectron damage control
total usage: 187/187.5 cpu 50.74/60 pg
armor resistence with AF lvl 4: em 72.856 ex 86.602 kin 74.5525 thermal 73.12933
top speed: 624m/s
i think thats best setup for the vengence post patch.

dont u htink assult frings are designed not to be hit with the low armor?
i think its better to orbit and take less shots and less damage then to try and tank. but stilll have the tank in lows so the shots you do take you dont have to use your rep as much to use your valuable cap..

My current Vengeance Setup is as follows: (I have Engineering 5, Electronics 5, and Wep. Upgrades 4)
Highs: 2x Med Pulse T2's (conflag. T2 crystals) 1x Dual Light Pulse T2 (again conflag.) 1x E5 Small Nos
Mids: 1x 1MN AB T2 1x X5 stasis web 1x Best named 7.5km Warp scrambler
Lows: 1x Small Armor Rep T2 1x N-type Active Thermal Hardener 1x Heat Sink T2 1x Cap Power Relay
PG: 60/60 CPU: 180/187.5
I cannot use all Medium pulse lasers with this setup due to powergrid limitations (hence the one dual light pulse). With enginering 5, you will only have 60 PG... 3 Med's need 65 . Wish they would have boosted the stock PG to 52 instead of 48 (cause then after Eng. 5, it would be 65). Also I see no reason to use a rocket launcher over a small nos. The ship doesnt get any bonus to missiles and the added damage will be negligable. Id rather have an infinite cap / some minor defense to enemy nos.
The above setup puts out respectable damage at close ranges, and the cap is sustainable with all mods running. Its a nasty little ship that im proud to fly.... and plus its one of the best looking ships in game! Killin' with style, baby!

The veng is a nice solo cruiser killer, but in general PvP its to slow and its damage output is still below par when you factor in its short range.
The only real role I see is as a solo pirate in low sec belts etc.
Its a shame it cant use nos + a rack of med pulses... -GeoTech--Check Out My Blog- |

1x Catalyzed AB 1x X5 Webber 1x Fleeting 20km Scram
1x Small Rep II 1x 200mm Rolled Plate 1x Heatsink II 1x Energized Adaptive II
Speed = 1520m/s ARmour = 1306 HP
The rep is to by cycled etc, and once under 10km you dont need the MWD with scorch.

How do you defend your self from a crow ( the most popular inty in eve )attacking you at 15-19 Km ?
Answer: You dont ...
Result: Vengeange dead
With the range bonus loss the pulse fit out is extremelly risky for PVP, good no doubt for PVE, but you will surelly die in PVP with this kinds of fits.

That's an easy one. I MWD to the crow and wtfpwn it. If he is clever enough to stay at range i turn around MWD to the gate and jump out. No Vengeance lost. Also keep in mind that you will land within 10k before he manages to activate his MWD in many cases and then it's too late for the crow. The only way to catch me is webbing me wich is his doom. This only applies to gate fights ofc but that's what my setup is made for.
That and the fact that 3 standart launchers would take forever to take a vengeance with lowests resist at 60% and a 23/7 running repper down.

Well I always assume that the other guy is not stupid and IT WILL orbit you at that distance... if it has to be with the mwd on ... remeber you cannot hit him at that distance so your warping to will be useless ...
Regarding the landing at 10 km ... err you have to say how you are so sure of that ... usually they are hanging around, they dont sat at the gate but of course only if the inty pilot is not stupid (once again).
And you are only fitted to gate fights ... ok ... so no fights in belts. planets and safe spots ... and the answer is running away ... jumping to the other side. Well you might be agroed and that will make you a bit harder to jump out ... but ok ... you have enough tank to hold a crow while he hits you and you wait for the agro time to pass...
TBH I think that your answers show that pulses might not be the best fit for the Vengeance.
One last tought... unfortunatelly here in the north I'm always finding clever pilots, because they usually dont make the kind of mistakes that you talk about and they engage everywhere ... but who knows maybe is just my bad luck
Oh regarding the jumping ... remember me to not invite you to wingman

Well so far is use it "here up north" and you overestimate the average crow pilot by far. That and the fact that a large number are rocket crows makes it pretty easy. If i really come across a smart missile crow pilot i can back out. Ofc there is allways the chance to get blobbed ont he other side but that can happen allways.
One thing is for sure: a Beam Vengeance wouldn't have taken down that lachesis. The poor noob totally ignored the fact that it's a dampening boat and shield tanked it to hell wich made a quite good tank. My 170 DPS vengeance took a long time to take it down wich made a very nice kill. With a beam vengeance i never would've been able to break his tank.
If i would use it to fight at belts i definatly would fit beams though. IMO you simply cannot tell if beams or pulse - close range or long range is better. You have th set up a ship for the situation you plan to use it and that is the crux behind it basically.

So what do you stick in that med slot?
3x mega modulated energy beam, 1x arbalest standard with paranha 1x named 20km scram, 1x named web, 1x ? 1x named armor rep, 1x heatsink 2, 1x mapc, 1x?
havent played with it yet, maybe you can do without the mapc with no ab?
*edit*
ok, played around a little....
same as above, with a balmer series targeting inhibitor (tracking disrupter) the mapc needs to stay, otherise you have .48 pg to fit the tracking disruptor and a thermic plating of somesort, those 0cpu and 1pg resitance platings. only 25% or so, 26.5 with best named, but its better than nothing in that last slot.
so:
3x mega modulated energy beam, 1x arbalest standard with paranha 1x named 20km scram, 1x named web, 1x balmer series targeting inhibitor (tracking disrupter) 1x named armor rep, 1x heatsink 2, 1x mapc, 1x resitance plating tech2
with have a few pg free, since we are not using the mapc for more than 2 pg, but cpu will only have 2 or so free.

With scorch you are able to kick his ass in 10km range, if he stays outside web range it is fairly easy to get out of his orbit and just warp out.
And AFAIK rocket crows only go 12km(?) so you should get him webbed if you know what you are doing.
A standard launcher crow shouldn't be hard to tank. For what you have your nice cap recharge bonus anyway?
EDIT: Cyrix's setup is pretty much top notch, only thing is that I would switch the EANM for a 50% thermal hardener.

I just got a bad taste for tech2 crystals. The tracking penalty is just so stiff. We are talking about shooting at mwd inties with a crystal that failry severaly nerfs your tracking...I lost a crusader to a crusader once, I had sram and web, he only had scram, and i couldnt hit him because conflag cant hit the side of a barn if you are walking past.

in intie vs intie fights where both have web you can go with conflag, if transversal hits 500m/s+ which is when only 1 intie has web you won't hit **** with conflag
go with multispec, you have only 4 guns anyway, its quite fast for switching.

note : this is very tight on cpu, so I am using exact named mods
high : 3x t2 medium pulse, arbi rocket
mid : catalyzed cold-gas mwd, x5 web, faint warp prohibitor
low : t2 sm rep, hs2, 200mm titanium plate, mapc
Threw this together with stuf I had in the hanger, not terribly expensive.
