Edited by: Saks on 21/06/2006 10:20:15 OK, I farmed them, and I don't regret the changes.
First to farm it, I'd run 40 kill agents in a grid, then take all the L4 kill missions, and cycle them until I got IO and rogue drone harassment. 40 agents are all within 10 jumps of each other...
This gave me 7-10 open missions for IO etc.
Then after downtime, you use two accounts to farm... a megapulse geddon or baalgorn with dual webbers and a hauler or raven fitted with assault launchers...
This nets you 21000 zydrine a day (3000 from each IO), and several million isogen, noxium per week... So that is about 140 000 zydrine a week, then you cash out the mission and recycle...
It's roughly three billion ISK a month doing this,
Why?
1)I got tired of seeing all these t2 BPO holders with infinite ISK, so I decided to "make" billions of isk myself
2) I got tired of the endless BAD (broken as designed) LP offerings for endless amounts of poorly managed offerings. The 5000 average LP for IO suddendly seemed worthless, so I decided that running missions for LP is pointless...
3) I never thought mining was interesting ... I've seen my million zydrine but never touched a roid of arkanor etc...
As for the 5/10, we used to do that 24/7...
You sit on the level with all the drone bs, clear the level, and just pick them off at respawn... Every 10 min is a few million ISK in zydrine... You stick an alt there with an occator and then just load up all night, and leave with 50 000 zydrine in the morning...
4) fighting in 0.0 is so expensive that you have to wage a war of attrition as so many of these alliance pilots fly their old school HAC with full faction fitting... I don't mind charging in a thorax with 5 neutron blasters, and I don't mind constant battle and death, but I did need a real source of non-0.0 ISK, and that was IO.
5) The boards are full of people bragging about their 10-50 billion ISK, that if you want to compete, you need to maximize your income... smart players found the 5/10 and IO. Let's face it after RMR, over 1 trillion ISK in capital BPOs were bought. How are newer players supposed to compete with that? Well, let me tell you that 3 billion a month from IO goes a long way to leveling the playing field!
6) The macrominers ruined mining and have no moved into macro mission running. When I was a LP mission runner, you counted on 15000 LP equals a 30 mil ISK implant. I know jump clones changed this, but now the macro mission runners are depressing prices with implants. I saw the macro mission runners ruining my income, and I had to find a new way to make ISK.
7) Many of the missions are not balanced. Some are instant death traps, other are too easy. IO and rogue drone harassment were predictable, steady, and interesting.
Anyway, I made my ISK, got my T2 bpos, my fleet of HAC, and I'll miss all the zydrine, but I fully understand the change, and I have no problem with it.
Take care, and fly safe! |

alliances own t2 bpos and farm 10\10 complexes. i dont see any other point in what youve just said regarding you being pleased with the changes.
as to you solo`ing IO and the 5\10, what about those who did them as a group activity? i know we did.. and the 40% decrease in profit relly hurt our manufacturing. ---
new sig, Hijack it and ill eat u. *Imaran hands B0rn2KiLL a fork - Come get some!11

One of the reasons I love EVE so much and see it as the premier game is my nickname for it, "Charles Darwin Online" [CDO].
The change is like a meteor striking the earth and wiping out entire species... but the game is also online evolution and adaptation...
I know that me, my friends, and hundreds of players all got "destroyed" with the nerf, but it was easy to see coming, and it is time to adapt yet again...
My questions are this as far as fairness:
1) can CCP stop macro mission runners before ALL empire activity is destroyed
2) can CCP stop macro miners, especially ice miners, so empire can at least be fun, competitive, or real...
3) can the R and D side be fixed so more people have more options other than pvp and 0.0
4) can mission rewards be fixed so people aren't insulted by such blantently broken rewards?
5) can the minor factions be fixed so they get t2 implant sets, ships, and more agents?
6) can trading be tweaked a bit so it is a real EVE career?
The economics of the zydrine loss are very murky...
1) people have hoarded zydrine, so no changes for a few months
2) 0.0 people will dust off the covetors and keep supplies around 3900ISK per unit
3) local depression and deflation might occur as people lose their "income" to buy ships etc

I too farmed always one single IO for a week...circleing with 4 Lvl4 agents...and what for? To get iskies vs. GTC to be able to stay "ingame"...sad, but true...
Sure thing is: It was drasticly way of "overpowered" in RISK vs. REWARD!
But w/o any notice this nerf is way too harsh imho.

I my self used to get this mission 2-4 times aday if i was lucky. and then there is out local mission spammer who and like many others in local always offered me IO and I was free to farm it for a week.
I never went out of my way to make my agents work for me.
but it did get boring as hell and I would have to take a break and do something else. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Farming 5/10 drone was insane :)
It was possible to get 70mil ISK (tiers + minerals) in abt 1 hour :)
I clone jumped from 0,0 to 5/10 area just for cash cause it beat NPCing and mining alike.

Edited by: Tarron Sarek on 21/06/2006 13:36:56 It's nice you're so honest, but how could you regret it if you already benefited from it? Hm, I guess noone can imagine just how sick it makes me reading all the recent threads. It's like suddenly everybody reveals their own little dirty secrets. Good thing most playes don't read the forum. Otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if many would leave the game due to such .. crappy gamebalance and gigantic loopholes. But what you don't know won't hurt you..
"and it is time to adapt yet again..." - let me rephrase that: "time to find a new exploit".

ths sad thing is i thik i heard this already 3 times..
Diablo 1+2 git invested by people using exploits(like bunker kil in io instead if drone controller kill) they used account hacks trade hacks ...made their golden nose and after the patch they stated like this XXXXXXXXX who posted this ..... its really killing the fun ... and pls dont tell me the macro miners made u running IO 24/7 damn these macro miners...fact is they are same like u ... and pls dont call me dump i didnt farm io 24/7..i could but its not the mission running style ... somehow i did around 4-5ooo Angel Extras and somehow i still have fun .... they killed my fun so i complain i dont let easy take away stuff im used to..

So...having 1 (in words: ONE) IO open all the time to run it ONCE in 24h while doing PvP or running other missions the other times is "exploiting" or "power gaming"??
Interesting definitions...so mining for several hours in 0,0 daily is "power gaming" as well?? Or even exploiting?? No??? But...those Roids do respawn as well...same as the mission respawn after DT...

You suck! Oh wait, you are Saks. I am happy to report that I don't give an aúú about mission farming since I own few isk printing machines called t2 bpo's, but people like you do ruin this game, because instead of playing you find the way to exploit it and then you whine all the time and hide behind your alt, so we can't pod for your stupidity.

You don't regret? How nice of you and thank you for the stealth nerf endorsement! Next time should you decide to kiss CCP/0.0/alliance painted bum, --- get a fuXXing room.

I never farmed them, like some people have but I was happy to do them when ever I got the mission. But I can understand why some people would abuse the system like this to try and even out the inequalities they have programed into the game. CCP has time after time attempted to force people to go to unsecure space to be targets for thier PvP friends. They do this by makeing every high end item unavailable to those of us who simply are not interested in thier PvP experience. So you are going to constantly find people looking for alternative ways to support thier style of game play. And if they ever do manage to make it impossible for those of us who enjoy the PvE game enviorment, then they will simply lose some of thier player base. They don't seem to care about that though.

Good grief, you're treating this game like a full time job. Maybe you should try to get a job at McDonalds and sell GTC for isk. You'll likely get a better earn ratio for your time and actually get to meet some people.

Solid gold sink?
The drone nerf wont stop farmers, ccp have just lowered their gain from it. So they get half the isk, thats still 1.5 bil a week.. If ccp just simply changed the mission max time to 24 hours (or less) then it wouldnt be able to be farmed, just lowering the reward from it doesnt stop the farming, it just kicks the people who ran the mission once as they got it in the nuts.

Yeah, I really enjoyed IO when it came up for me once a week or so. It was a way for me to slowly collect minerals to be able to build a ship. I think they did over kill on this.
