I'm currently training Mechanic Lev V and then can fly a Harpy but I want to know what the limits of it are since I don't want it popped in the first day or so. I mainly run missions in high sec so will it handle Level 3's for instance. I read things about people taking on 1mil BS's but that seems a little far fetched imo but maybe I'm just underestimating it.
I'm planning on fitting 4 x T2 rails with a named launcher and a decent tank with a webber.
Thanks.

Edited by: Karl Mattar on 21/06/2006 16:27:18 You will have a blast running L3 in it, no problems at all.
Well, webbers will be dangerous, and any mission where you pop into an ambush is bad, but with NOS and a good tank, you'll be fine.
You will absolutely own any mission against Guristas.
Enjoy the Harpy. It's an excellent gunship.
PS: With antimatter charges, the bigger the target the better. So yes, you can take down some of those big ships. Just takes a lot of ammo and time...

70km is very short for a spike harpy - should be able to break at least 90k. ---:::---

i don't mean to hijack the thread..
i am training for a harpy too, but i'm pretty new to eve (<600k sp).. it's going to take me about 22 days to train frig lv5, mechanic lv5, and finish up engineering lv5, but even then i won't have t2 rails trained.
right now i'm flying a carcal with a bare minimum of sp in missles but my guns are practically at zero. should i train up my guns first (maybe switch to a moa once i get them >missles) and then train up the harpy requirements? are there any skills that are very important to flying a harpy that i am overlooking?
i have enough isk to buy and equip a couple harpies (with basic t2 or named t1, none of that gistii stuff of course) but i'd really rather not waste it by flying into 0.4 space unprepared, or taking on a mission that i can't handle. thanks

Its an excellent ship, but don't use spike for PvE, it eats your profits, and doesn't kill as fast as anti-matter

Permian: If you can fit your Caracal with the launchers you feel comfortable with, then yes, start with training for the Caldari AF and Gunnery. At a low SP level, launchers > turrets, no way around it. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Cascade للللللللiss NAVY |

I saw Fo0b2 pod someone from over 80km with his harpy...
Of course I had to scramble and web the pod long enough for him to fire several volleys
