/me opens the starmap, 500 - 700 pilots in Jita, any time during the day...
My question is: What is the allure of Jita? What makes you stay there?
Is it about the trade? Or is it about the trade?
Is it because of the complex player-vs-player environment - traders, scammers, more scammers, suicide-gankers, pirates, macroers? Or is it about the life and the action?
Please share your thoughts!
I am going to pod-jump 25 jumps back to Jita to find out for myself...

I was near Jita once when I was flying out to meet a new friend that started as a Gallente, but that's it. However that's not my contribution to this thread.
Why the hell would you pod-jump out there? At LEAST get in a shuttle! That's 500 m/s even if you're AFK.

i go there all the time to sell stuff, since its a great market. The high number of stations also attracts mission runners.

LOL ok, Enough of that. Still, People go there because its the main hub in game. Personally I pay the little more for the same item out where I work. Saves me the time of having to fly all the way over there unelss I abo****ly have to.

I think somebody did the research and you can get virtually anywhere in Empire in 9 jumps from Jita.
Good access is central for the development of a trade hub and that 9 jump range seals it in my opinion.

Really? Because Jita is like 26 jumps from Rens, which seems like the second largest hub.

I think it's a shorter route if you survive going through Rancer.

Why do people (IRL) live and work in New York City? Because it has almost everything you'd want, is on the leading edge of the market, has a high traffic flow through it, etc...its a trade hub.
Personally, screw Jita, Rens, Oursulaert, Amarr, Yulai, you get the point - you don't need them. If you're a pirate, lowsec is just fine 9/10 , unless you have a massive taste for the big T2 stuff, you can find (or loot) what you need.

I've never been to Jita, but Ourselaert is the same way.
I stay in Ours because it's the easiest place to buy and sell things in Gallente space. ------------------------ The Almighty says this must be a fashionable fight. It's drawn the finest people. - an Amarr Mercenary |

Did anyone take into account that Jita is 1 jump from Kisogo, which is the location of a State War Academy. A lot of newer players will be traveling there a lot to pick up ships and equipment before finding a corperation and moving into other systems. We all know the adage, the ibis wont stray far from the academy.

I'd say a huge trade hub. But personally I find almost everything I need out in Nakugard (don't travel to Jita because I don't want to make the 26 jump safesec trip, or the 13 jump Rancer trip....)
But I've been to Rens a few times for storyline missions. Packed to the gills. I've often-times contemplated taking my corp there for a day, just to ore-thieve macro miners (edge in on my business why don't you you lazy *******...).
But alas, just a plan.
