They are the two most valuable ores in safe space, but which is better? Omber has a decent amount of Isogen, Pyerite, and Tritanium. Kernite has a bit more Isogen and Tritanium...but instead of Pyerite, it has Mexallion...which is worth more. So all things being equal, Kernite would be worth more. However, Kernite is also twice as heavy as Omber...meaning you can only mine / transport half as much. So this begs the question, in terms of value, which is worth more? Omber or Kernite?

Nevermind, I just mined a bit of each and found out that even though Omber contains less in minerals per unit, it is worth more overall due to the fact it's half the size of Kernite. Thus, a full load of Omber will have more minerals than a full load of Kernite.

These type of questions also had my attention back when i started.
Best advice i can offer is to look for a production spreadsheet, the good ones have mining, refining and hauling sections which can help you with this.
In Empire I mined the following ways,
for nox mine japset (I here that jap has some zyd now although i havent mined any in empire to confirm
for iso mine omber or if not available mine kernite
for mex mine plag
for pry mine scord
for the rest of the trit u need mine veld
As you get into low sec empire you may find better ore like hemo and hed for nox and iso (with zyd) but these are often lawless places frequented by pirates.

my advice though would be to always mine the most valuable ore in the system you're in. you can always sell the mineral you don't need and buy the ones you need. And you'll get more minerals that way.
Of course to get even more of it for the same price, little "trading" has to be done.
Otherwise yes omber brings most isk/minute. in high sec. space.
And no jaspet doesn't exist in 0.5 or above. Only in 0.4 and lower in galente and amar regions.

Jaspet can be found in .4 and less, so it is in Empire.
Is in not really worth more than omber most of the time though.
Kernite is not worth as much as Omber because Omber holds the more needed minerals.

As stated above, Jaspet is .4 and down. It does have 8zyd to the refine in it now ( I am guessing it didn't used to? Always had while I've played ), and is not as valuable as Omber/Kernite. Simply due to size.
Kernite, 5 sell for 750isk (ish) at 6m3 space
Jaspet: 3 sell for 600isk (ish) at 6m3 space
Omber sells better but I don't have it in amarr space. Personally though I would rather have Omber to mine, as I'm always running short on Pye, and Mexallon from Plag is eaiser to get, and gives you more Trit, another thing I need more of.
