I'm amazed however that they refferred to jamyl sarum as "he" again :P there own races section here on the website has "her" as a woman :D
Quote: Jamyl is one of very few female heiressĘ in the history of the Amarr Empire.

Quote: This hint of democracy has outraged various Amarrian fundamentalists, amongst them Jamyl Sarum, whose spokesman denounces this method of selection as "Heretical and fit for ants and vermin but not pure blooded Ammarians". He elaborated:
The spokesman is the 'HE'. MOOrovingian "Following & supporting EVE (since Jan 2001) is like wiping your arse with sandpaper."

"This means we can get to vote who we preffer for Emperor??"
No; 'tis means the Amarrians can vote on those who will compete to become champions, representing each of the heirs. Once the fights for the championship are finished, the champions (one for each heir) will then compete, and the heir represented by victorious champion will become the emperor.
... or something like that, those Amarr traditions are so convoluted, they make my head hurt. :s

Hmm..idea..
Any ordinary player above 3 mil points could compete for Emperor but no clone if he loses..? Screw the heirs I say!

"Hmm..idea..

... I don't think the players would qualify for something like that, ic-wise because they are already 'modified' humans, and ooc-wise, because no player should really be given this sort of a power.
Having the outcome of the storyline formed by players on the other hand is quite interesting. I feel they are going somewhat too far with it though, and sideways to the established story -- according to background, ability to pick right champions for the task is becoming very important trait of the heir, but imo the tasks should be more diverse than just ship combat... (it'd allow to involve more players in all sorts of small and big tasks, too)

Edited by: Mirial on 28/09/2003 11:30:52 Bad idea IMO. Another combat event...just like all practically all the other events. So much for interplay among the Heir houses, alliances, politicking, etc... EVE is already heavily weighted in favor of the combat pilots in terms of content. The traders, manufacturers, and miners should also have some opportunity to affect the storyline in some way through their actions, and note I'm saying this as a combat pilot myself.
I suggested a variety of weighted tasks or smaller events in the Events forum but if the best they can think of to give is make some sort of combat tournament, they've been missing the point. While some sort of champion fighting should play some role, I don't think it a good idea to let that be the be all and end all of the succession.

Ok so does this mean CCP or Polaris is going to hold a vote for an event. So they will give us a list of 4 heirs. And we can vote a squad of fighters to die in the name of each of them?
This would be an extremely cool event with a lot of gammbling potential. Bets anyone?

Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 28/09/2003 16:02:20 Mission name: ----------------------- Succession imminent
Mission briefing: ----------------------- Because of your long and prosperous servitude to the Amarrian Empire I'm going to give you a task with a reward you will probably like. You see, we have a bit of a sticky situation here in Amarr. We have 4 candidates for succession to Emperor but only one can succeed. In order to resolve this tricky situation I want you to get me 1000 units of tritanium in 3 hours.
Objectives: ----------------------- To complete the mission, the following must be provided by you. One thousand units of tritanium.
Rewards: ----------------------- Dominion over all amarrians (and a funny hat).
