Edited by: NosseH on 23/06/2006 13:42:34 Same thing happens to me and when comparing system specs in this topic i noticed 3 out of us 4 posters have an athlon 64 processor. Coincidence?
Specs: Athlon 64 3500+ Geforce FX 5700 (this is not my regular card, just a borrowed one untill my radeon gets back) 1g ddr ram.

Tell you what i've noticed....
when i ran eve on my old p4 1.8 with 2 gig ram and a geforce fx5200, i never had crashes (not connection lost issues, firmware upgrade on the wifi router sorted that out). My new lappy (p4HT not dual core)never has probs either, but a lot of the posters who have probs are running SLi geforce and AMD 64...... or at least they have "uber" comps...... now that's magic.

Same thing happened to me. Broke my own record of 12th eve client crashed to desktop within 2hrs of gameplay. It happened when I was travelling across the following regions: Everyshore, Sinq Laison. Wonder if the travellers on the above systems encounter the same problem.
Never had this happened on me before the patch

Originally I was running a P4 3 gig cpu and would crash to a system reboot. Went through every single thing, updated everything we could and came to the conclusion of getting a new motherboard and chip, all other parts were good.
Now I'm running an AMD 64 X2 4200 chip, on an evga sli motherboard. Now it just simply crashes the game. Yes the drivers for the chip have been updated. The board, we changed the onboard lan to use a separate nic card. Video is a pci express 7600 geforce4. It doesn't matter what windows in game are open or none open, it just abruptly crashes to desktop. All drivers for everything are updated at this point.
The last option to go with is to turn off sound in game, which if it crashes again, will see about disabling that. I don't honestly know out of my old system if the board and chip were bad in any way shape or form, but after doing everything under the sun and no improvement, it was the last resort to change it. System is quiet, runs better and doesn't seem to overheat at all, so in a sense it was a nice upgrade I put together, but still does not resolve the crashing to desktop.
I'm not loosing any kind of internet or network connectivity and there is nothing extra running in background for extra cpu usage that I can see.
I built my system, I upgrade my system, but this just totally baffles me beyond belief.
Current system specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 + dual core Evga SLI Motherboard 4 Gigs Memory DDR 180 gig Harddrive SATA Geforce 4 7600 PCI Express 600Watt power supply Linksys Ethernet Nic **can't get more basic than that structure ** XP Professional OS w/SP2

Same here - Random CTDs when playing. If this isn't resolved within a week, I obviously won't be upgrading my trial account.
My system: AMD64 Dual Core 3800+ Geforce 7800GT 256MB Memory 2048MB Windows XP 64 DirectX 9.0c Onboard Audio (Asus A8R-MVP)

first of... i tought i had fixed my crashes to reboot, o boy i was wrong i tought it was my FX5200 graphic card, but placing my old card back (NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000) doesnt seems to help a bit, it just keeps crashing to reboot
AMD Athlon 64bit 3600+ Display Card NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 windows xp and all the latest drivers installed
i have 3 other pc's al amd athlons(no 64 bit) and same display cards as stated above including the same soundcard, but neither of them crashes to desktop or to reboot, so i asume either my pc gets overheated during battles or its an issue with the 64bit???

Try killing machonet, worked for me earlier today. (it's in your eve cache folder) if your nervous about mucking with things... just rename it machonet.old eve will rebuild it.
Of course it only slow'd down the CTD.. but fewer is better than more.
