Edited by: Pistolio on 28/09/2003 12:44:28 Hello,
I have a small corp, 4 members. Since i started to play in august, I mined a lot, gather enough money to have a Thorax, equipped with 4 harvesters and 5 miner 1. I mine in a 0.6, almost only omber and kernite. I use a Iteron III to bring back my stock. I mine approx 19,000 omber per 40 minutes. Sell it at 36 isk, total approx 666,000 isks.
Now, i dont see how can i gather enough money to buy a battleship. It will take months! Is mining the only way? We try some trade, but its not very lucrative.
We are not big enough to start into mass production.
I heard a lot of ppl being able to buy a battleship after a short time of play.
I also try to do some NPC pirates hunting. But with only 1 cruiser, im not strong enough to hunt in 0.0 system. (I tried it, but i almost lost my cruiser.)
What can i do more??
Thanks for your advices! ____________________________________________

You sell the Omber for 36 isk? ehh... I hope you dont... I hope you refine it first?
Gather a bunch of Isogen from Omber and sell it for 62-63isk.

It is better for me to sell it at 36 than refine it. I only have Refining lvl 4. ____________________________________________

Megacyte.
Right now it's so scarce that you have no chance of getting a BS anytime soon. Sorry bud, but that's the CCP new deal.
Anyone who made their money before the "roid bug" already has a leg up, and a means to make more money. You. mt friend, will not get your BS until CCP fix this. As I see it, they introduced it deliberately to stop everyone getting a BS and as a blunt mechanism of controllig the economy.
The trouble with this method is that it has introduced a gross imbalance, in that after the cutoff poiint everyone without a BS is going to have a much more frustrating and unrewarding game experience.
That's CCP balancing for you :)
P.S. They nerfed bistot mining in a cruiser when they introduced their "more bugs please ++" patch 10 days ago. So you now won;t be able to mine bistot in your cruiser.

Hmm.. awell.
But you can go further out.. not 0.0 space.. bur 0.1-0.2. I am at a 0.1 place and mine lotsof kernite in a Thorax with 8 harvesters + 3miners and 2 250's. alone.

Edited by: Pistolio on 28/09/2003 13:01:35 Ok, so for now, beside mining, there's no real option? I just have to find better place to mine then? And improve all my refining skills? ____________________________________________

Edited by: Tentimes on 28/09/2003 13:09:13 Most manufactured items have low margin on them, although you can sometimes make a small profit in the right place, at the right time.
Another method might be to club together and kill pirates in 0.0 space (beasts and Jugs in sansha space). The loot that doesn't sell for big money can be stacked and refined for some decent minerals. The amounts you get are vary varied, and you can find some items that give megacyte (lenses anyone? :) You wil need to act jointly to do this since they buffed the pirates.
Another thing you might think of, is hauling. If you have a good rep and play honest, ppl will give you a cut of the bistot/mega to haul long distance for them.
I would recommend moving to an area with a peaceful alliance in it. There you can get contracts to haul and join up with more people. With a smal corp this makes things a LOT easier (talking from personal edxperience being part of the CFS alliance in Khanid).

Hunt pirates. Or continue to mine. It took me around a month to get my scorp.
Tentimes what are you talking about?' They didn't "introduce" anything. That "roid bug" thing that you talk about isn't something new (it's not a bug either), it has been there all the time. They respawned the belts before though.
And what are you talking about not being able to get a BS? That's BS (I'm so funny ), we're a small corp with 6 members, only 2 that plays every day. I started to save for my scorpion after the roids started to get very small, and I didn't have any trouble getting it.

Ok you can mine pyro for a week and have the isk for a b-ship.
I mine 100m3 of pyro in a thorax in a few hours. Thats about 4 million isk.
Its worth about 6 million isk if you sell the nox out in one of the outer 0.0 systems. Since its a ***** to mine pyro and crap out in a belt filled with 50k rats and alliances need the stuff to replace their b-ships. Also you don't get much nox or iso outa rat slag.

Why shouldn't it take months to be able to afford a battleship?

Im not against the fact it take time to get a battleship. Its just that im playing for about 2 months, and I still dont see the day where i gonna get one. Im just asking if they are better way to gather money.
Again, Im not in a big corp. Im in a small corp where im almost the only active player. So i can rely only on myself. ____________________________________________

I got my megathron when I was the only player online in the corp for at least 2 months. I got my scorpion 1 week ago, also solo. Nothing's impossible.
I made the money for the megathorn mostly from farming, 5x30k's in a Moa. Made about 1.3M/hour that way. Now that the cost is a LOT cheaper (megathrons were going for 120 million, now more like 85-90), it shouldn't be harder, right?

Train those mining skills. It's not particularly glamorous, but it's the best way to fatten your wallet.
Save for some better mining lasers too. I'm not saying you have to run out and buy 5 miner 2's (you couldn't fit all 5 anyway), but even 5 EP-S Gaussians would be an improvement.
I have been playing for 2 months as well, and just got my first battleship this week (a Dominix). My corp only has a handfull of members too, but I could have just as easily gotten it myself.

Took me 6 weeks of playing to get 100 million. And that was after donating quite a bit of it to the corp as well. So sure you can get a battleship without it taking months and months, but it takes some effort.
Like some said, mining is a good idea, look into scordite mining in 1.0 space freeing up the ship guarding for you (or a slot dedicated to a gun instead of a miner) in 0.6 might make it worth more than you think.
Also try trading, which is also profitable. If you don't have very good mining skills you could probably get a fair amount of money as bestower haulers for other corps that are mining bistot far away.
I got mining lasers to sell you if you still need any. Send me a mail in-game and we'll work something out. Can also discuss money-making tactics at greater length if you wish :).

Still Ore from Miners that leave their unsecure cans (ie Unguarded), stuffed with minerals, in high sec security belts.
Trust me, get yourself a decent Indy and you can make a fark load of money if you know where to go.

buy cheap ass megacyte. trade it in at techell for miner 2 lasers then sell the miner 2 lasers at 4.5 mil a piece
approximate profit: 1.5 mil per mining laser.
good luck:)

Here's how i mine:
I have a Thorax, now equipped with 5 EP-S Gaussian Miner. I also have 4 harvester mining drones. I mine omber and kernite in a 0,6. I put the stock in a non-secure can. Then, i go back to take my Iteron III and bring all the stock. My iteron III is equiped with expander cargo hold, so my cargo capacity is now 5339,85.
I mine approx 27,000 omber per hour, wich i sell at 36 isk, total: 972,000isk.
I also mine kernite. I sell it at 84 isk.
For now, since im just refining lvl 4, it is better to sell it than refine it.
Thats about it. ____________________________________________
