Hi.
I am still relatively new to the game (~4 months now), and, for the most part, I live in w-space.
Due to some recent developments, my corp decided to take down our POS and leave our home WH yesterday night. It was:
J171539 - B-C00065 - B-R00008
It's a C2 with HS/C1 statics.
When we wanted to remove our loot and POS. We saw our highsec static led to a "highsec island" approx 6 jumps from Jita. Long story short, we decided we didn't want to be lugging the POS and goods through a likely-camped low-sec bridge system, and decided to scan out another exit.
Lo and behold, we scanned out an exit WH (presumably K162, but I don't remember). It was another C2 with HS/C1 statics. This C2's HS static dumped us out just a few jumps from Amarr, so that was good. We unloaded, all was well, I didn't think twice.
Then, today, I saw something about a theory on Constellation Wormholes -- supposed/unverified statics/semi-statics that spawn in WHs connecting to other WHs in their constellation. Just out of curiosity, I checked my bookmark for that C2 WH we had yesterday:
J154249 - BC00065 - B-R00008
Needless to say, I was fairly surprised and even somewhat excited that this seemingly unproven theory is showing up on my front lawn, but the theory looks dead in its tracks on Eve Uni, and some old forum posts I read about it had some people claiming to have "disproved" it (but with no links or anything).
Are Constellation WHs still a theory, or have they been proven, or what's the current belief on them? Is there a tactical advantage (eg, mobility/security) if one were to own an entire constellation? (esp if said constellation only had 2 member systems?)
Thanks. |

If you turn on eve audio in these constellation wormholes, you can hear sounds from the 'sky'.

Wait you found a Wormhole that led to another Wormhole?
Okay may be because it's late, but if I got your Theory right, you found a random Dynamic in your Wormhole leading to another Wormhole that is also in your Constellation? And the theory goes that those Wormholes happen alot?

Your sample size of 1 is impressive. No way possible this could be random. Stuck In Here With Me:-á http://sihwm.blogspot.com.au/

Given that Disavowed. moved into TLCs hole because of that assumption (NoHo, Dropbears and some more in the same constellation), some people obviously still believe in it.
The other theory is that cosmig signatures/anomalies respawn within the same constellation. Meaning that if you despawn a site in one system of the constellation, it will respawn in another one. If you owned all systems in that constellation, you would never run out of PvE content. |

Before we started using a WH mapper, I used to keep track of systems and POS's via a database table. I cracked that open and checked the first 2 C2's in it.
R08 C65 R05 C33
So there must be some constellation jumping going on somewhere. How that constellation jump happens, you'd have to ask CCP. It could be a rule (All systems with a K space static have all other statics constellation jump), it could have been randomly set by CCP (X,Y,Z systems have constellation jump statics) or it just could be random when the WH connection is created and you happened to roll twice in the same constellation. |

Constellations were going to be for jump bridges & cyno but thankfully that idea died very quickly.
Pro Tip: Lighting Cyno's in wormhole space still scares people. |

There is actually very little cynoing going besides the odd morale drake, 7-cyno-abaddon or devoter lighting up a victory cyno. "I honestly thought I was in lowsec"

That is correct. The theory goes that, for any given constellation, there is an above average chance (or, perhaps, a set number on a fixed interval) of dynamic wormholes that will link one WH of the constellation to another WH of the constellation. It's on Eveuni and there seems to have been a lot of talk about it years ago.
Jack Miton wrote:Your sample size of 1 is impressive. No way possible this could be random.
Clearly did not say it was definitive proof or even proof at all.
I said I saw it listed as a theory on Eveuni and saw many old forum threads about it, and I ran into it once (out of the 1 time I actually bothered to check where my dynamic led to), which makes me curious if the theory was ever proven or disproven.
Similarly, I'm not going to make any negative assumptions about your reading comprehension skills, because I only have a sample size of one to judge from. |
