Well some how ive managed to invert my sleeping time. From staying up later and later every day i have some how managed to end up sleeping at about 3PM and waking up around 7. well today was the first day i couldn't sleep.Ussualy by 4AM i can get some shut eye,but today i slipt to far (7) and decided **** it.I'll just stay up till 8PM then sleep.
That didn't work out by 3 i was already knocking out on my bed.
So now im trying to find a quick way to reset myself back to normal hours. If any body has some tips of past experiances with what seems to be very lame insomnia.Feel free to share

Easy, stay up the entire day, and go to sleep the following day at a reasonable time.

Try eating at your "normal" times. Food can help reset your body clock. Worked for me in the past.

I regularly work messed up shifts, you'll find that if you do as people are suggesting here, and stay up until a reasonable time the next day then sleep, your body clock will fall back into a regular rythm.

Unless it doesn't. I've had this problem for about five years; my body clock just won't accept a 24-hour cycle. ________________________________________________

I have the worst time sleeping. My body clock seems to have upped and left me a long time ago...
I rarely wake up and go to bed at the same times on two consecutive days. Often the times are out by anywhere up to the full 12 hours though as has been mentioned - it's easier to sleep when you're tired.
I've also had insomnia in the past - 4 hours sleep in a week is really tough and the effects of sleep deprivation are really quite scary.
The biggest problem I'm having at the moment is how screwed up my head is. For a long time I didn't dream (years) and only recenly they've returned to me. Trouble is, the dreams are a terrible torment for reasons I won't go into... between that and the amount on my mind at the moment it's a wonder I get any rest at all.
If you can force yourself into a full day - sleep from 3/4am and get up at 6 or 7 and just keep going till 9/10pm you should be able to force your body into resting enough to reset things.
A client of mine who's ex-SAS recommends going to bed with the sun and rising with it. Resets your body completely in about a week. ______________________ 106 days and still a hijack virgin... Cherry popped! ~kieron

I did a good 2 months inverted last summer in order to run in the morning (in Texas, it get damn hot). That being said, its difficult to get on an inverted schedule, and even harder to get off it - the best thing you can do is advance your sleep schedule a few hours everyday, I went with about 3 hours per day.
Caffiene can be your friend, but if you use too much it will cause you to crash once it starts getting out of your system, and its happened to me once or twice. Best idea is to do something you like or can dedicate yourself to, ike exercse or say an epic game of Civilization 4, or a TV series marathon. Your call.

Not so much talking about the inverted sleeping patterns, but here's an interesting article about our natural sleep/wake cycle being approx 25 hrs, as opposed to the 24 we try and run to:

Edited by: Dust Rocket on 25/06/2006 01:25:14 Cause i work from 6PM-4AM mostly already 6 years i have developed things what make me sleep at NIGHTS. Sleeping in day time is easy for me. 1. Stay up day before u want to sleep(you could not sleep first night you will probably sleep next one) 2. Read a wery booring book in bed 3. Turn ur TV on and set it on music channel and set volume to wery low(i dont do that cause my comp is making steady noise when it is turned on ) 4. Take a bath (warm) 5. I love this one most. Have SEX (works on 90% of men, atleast on those i now)
Oh and if you wake up dont come out of bed no mater what(i check my skill etc.). If you need to go toilet go but dont turn lights on if you are affraid you miss the pot sit on it!!!!(we never miss)
Hope i helped you

I've had sleep problems for years.
Aside from completely resetting your body clock like other people said, I also find that some heavy tranquilizers to knock me out before bed can get me back on schedule right away. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

I've had this same problem - especially when I was laid off a while back. The advice above is best - and better yet, think of it this way: No matter how tired you feel, try to go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time every day until you're back on the desired schedule. After a few nights of insufficient sleep and a few tired days, you'll be back in synch. - - - - - "Never offend people with style when you can offend them with substance." - Sam Brown

You could always read one of the "OMG nerf WCS" threads or one of the "I love/hate BoB" threads. That oughta put you to sleep.

Get some different men. Some of us are actually capable of staying awake afterwards for snuggling and a talk. ________________________________________________

a lot of the good tips have been posted so far but by far the best ones are:
regular meals. Exersise during the day. certain foods like lettace are mildly sopperific so they can be eated before going to bed.
Things to avoid are usually alcohol and sleeping pills, yea they knock you out but you don't get nearly enough rem sleep with them so you ofter wake up feeling more exausted than before
