This isn't funny. Just FYI.
If by some miracle this is genuine, reformat your PC and re-install everything. Alternatively, donate your PC to charity and get an abacus

thats just it HP dosnt come with a reboot disk it comes with a recovery system that saves your harddrive & just uploads from that so it saved all my problems with it this deleted my whole harddrive!!! so only programs that are still on here are the ones i have put on i might have to actually get rid of this thing even thought its a 1000 dollar PC
UGH not cool

I'm assuming you reformated and after the fresh install reinstalled all the updates and latest drivers etc...
Might be a issue with the harddrive itself still containing some obscure virus or something. If you managed to get your pc infected with lots of viruses I wouldn't be suprised if one of em was something that did some ebil stuff with your boot record.
Don't understand how a pc can run great when it doesn't run any programs decently, which could also indicate that something is wrong with your friends windows xp disk.
Why not reinstall xp media center ( even though it's crap )?

Try using a clean harddrive. And recovery system should be able to do a clean install as well.

Try to get all the Windows Updates if possible. Also, a lot of my problems with the Eve client after a reinstall were caused by a combination of video card drivers, and not having the most up to date version of Direct X.

Directx and video drivers are good things to check first if you didn't update those, sound drivers as well ( although xp should have some decent ones depending on your sound card )

LOL, all kidding aside, if you can't keep your PC clean, then buy a MacIntosh ffs. There are many things you can do to keep from getting viruses....use web-based email, don't surf for pron (hello!), don't allow others to use your machine, use Firefox, update your machine often, BUY YOUR OWN COPY of XP!

Rename the /eve/cache folder to somthing like /eve/oldcache.
Got the msot current Mainboard drivers? Got the mostl current Sound/Grafic/Network drivers? (The new ATi Catalyst driver had some issues - if your card doesn't work correctly, fall back one or two steps.)
Last step: Reinstall DirectX9.0c
Good luck! --*=*=*--

If it's an HP computer they tend to come with a recovery CD that when used gives you the option of restoreing Windows, or reinstalling everything.
Call HP and find out how to do a FULL re-installation with that computer.
This is why peopel should not buy certain computers for gameing.

"Company made" computers usually come with websites where you can look up exactly which computer you have and check exactly which updated drivers are available.
There is probably some sort of ghost disk available for your computer, which should reset it to whatever state it had before getting viruses etc. All you need to do after that (I suppose - haven't used media edition) is to get updates etc from windows update and probably the hp site aswell.
