In my humble opinion, I, as a Gallente Citizen (of Minmatar origin), believe that the Gallente Federation should allow Caldari Prime to secede to the Caldari.
The war is long over now. Peace can only be fully complete once the homeworld is returned to the Caldari.
The federation loses a world, but gains a fully committed new ally.

*For the untravelled cosmonauts amongst you, Caldari Prime and Gallente Prime both lie in said system.

Abandoned child, both your name and your plea for galactic peace and freedom made me wipe some tears from my eyes. You are now my brother. Thus I offer you the hand my oldest and may I say most beautiful daughter. --------------------------------------------

NEVER!
The Caldari should be made to PAY for their homeworld. It is, after all, what they do best. The Caldari will never be an 'ally', fair weather friend maybe. But only so long as there is money to be made in trade.
Caldari must be watched closely as the shifty eyed forked tounge devils they are. ___________________________________________ Join in the NEW Sci-Fi Quiz |

I'd like to see all the five races live in peace and harmony, as a unified Galactic Society, but I think that's a long way off yet. There's still far too much prejudice and bickering in the galaxy.
I have seen enough blood spilt to last a dozen lifetimes. There has been far too much bloodshed already. In my opinion, it is time for change. There MUST be peace. -------------------- Lord Eidolon The COSMOS Corporation

I find all the talk of the need for peace strange.
I submit to you that Gallente and Caldari are already at peace, and have been so for a long time. There are no Caldari to speak of on old Caldari prime, only Gallente now. To take their world away would much rather instigate war than for them to keep it.
I was born in New Caldari. I, like almost all of my countrymen, have never stood on Caldari Prime. Why would I want to?
Pride? We buy and sell pride. 99isk/unit. Heritage? How many Caldari like to be reminded that we actually share a common heritage with the Gallente?
No, peace is on the right track (just look at what we achieve in Crielere). Don't derail it. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Giving the Caldari their old planet back isn't going to make anybody happy. I think both parties don't want to share a solarsystem with eachother.

I say we destroy the worthless thing. Gallente are nothing better then targets. They take our home and with hold it from us and use it as a trophy over our heads. And I hear other Caldari not caring about this. You have no right to live to weakling. Beware Gallanete we will take back our world and punishy you for this. -------------------------------------- CRY HAVOC AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR |

Edited by: Reiisha on 29/09/2003 18:43:16 Even to me, a total putsider, this seems a bit to oblivious for words. The caldari are still whining and shouting at the Gallente about "what they have done" in the past, and the Gallente are still asking themselves what they did wrong in trying to keep "their" people from going away.
Get over it! It's been long since, and more is gained from peace, as in war or neutrality, you cannot benefit from either side's resources, knowledge, and company.
I, as a minmatar, still have a grudge towards the Amarr, but only to those who still believe that my race is their birthright to posess. The HQ of my corp resides in Amarr space, and i don't have any problems with that, as i've lived for most of my life there.
War is futile, neutrality is useless, but many people see that too late.

ok, if this is to be handled in a correct manner, it must be done in a gallente fashion, by democracy. Ask the fine people of Caldari prime if they are willing to become part of the Largest company in existence, trading their freedom and of course, those "exoitc" holoreels, for a more corporate, profit driven, lifestyle. If they wish it, then it should be so, but i most cerntainly doubt they will go that way. Of course, this is far better then the caldari way of dealing with the matter, selling the place to the highest bidder -----------------------------------------------

I most certainly support the idea of giving back Caldari Prime to the jurisdiction of the State. There are many other Gallenteans that beleive this as well.
However, the federation's government is weary about the whole thing, fearing that it may attract a hotbed of terrorist attacks. When Caldari say things like, Quote: Beware Gallanete we will take back our world and punishy you for this.
it shows where the Federation goverment would such an idea.

Hello-o! Didn't anyone hear me when I said that there are hardly any Caldari on old Caldari prime?
Did people decide to selectively close their ears when I pointed out that we have been at peace with the Gallentes for over a hundred years? Man.
We're practically allied. Just look at Crielere. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Oh, absolutely we should give Caldari Prime to the Caldari. It would be a wonderful gesture of peace on the part of the Gallente Federation.
Oh, wait. There's people on Caldari Prime. Where can we put them? Hmmmm... We'll figure that out later. We can build some nice camps on other worlds to hold them while we figure this out...
Yeah, that'd make people feel all warm and peaceful. Camps...

Edited by: Septimus on 02/10/2003 17:14:03 I was pretty narrow-minded, once. My great-grandfather was one of the Nouvelle-Rouvenor heroes, the ones that declared our freedom in words of shattered glass domes and the drowning of an entire colony. I took pride in this. My Grandfather served with Admiral Tovil Toba himself during the war. Gunner. 1st class. 11 confirmed kills. I took pride in this, as well.
I had an intense dislike of the Gallente. I believed them arrogant, short-sighted and hypocritical. But the recent cooperation between State and Federation has forced me to reconsider my views, as have my aquaintances with several fine Gallente who have proved reliable and sturdy people.
The past is slowly being buried behind us, one shovelfull at a time. Caldari prime is a distant memory for the oldest of us, and the younger generations have for the most part never laid eyes on it. Let the Gallente keep it...it would only serve as a reminder of atrocities past to us.
