England doesn't have **** on Portugal imo, if they do win, it's because that Portugal has half their midfield banned from the match.
While I do agree that it was a joke of a match (not the ref's fault btw, he was good and fair) it was the right team that came out on top.

Hard to judge on that one, seeing as England haven't turned up to this tournament yet. If they start playing, they might be good enough to win the thing. ________________________________________________

LOL. "if they start playing". England have been saying that since you beat germany 5-1. Time to stop saying and start doing if you have any hope of winning(please dear go NO!!) the world cup. -----------------------------------------------

Well, you would think. But four years ago, Germany made the final without ever being remotely any good. Weird things happen sometimes.
Portugal are going to be missing several key players through suspension - including Figo if FIFA decides to kick him out for headbutting - Ronaldo may be injured ... much to your great chagrin, it might just be that the fates want England to keep winning.
Actually I agree with you, we havne't performed as a team for a good few years. But given the players in that side, you've got to think they'd be world beaters if only they ever did. ________________________________________________

I think the ref had a lot of trouble controlling it and made a lot of unnecessary bookings which overshadowed the necessary ones he had to make. I don't think he had a good game, but the teams were using 'gamesmanship' all the time and he fell for it and in doing so over reacted to too much it. Pretty much par for the course for most of the tournament for the refereeing.
Agree that the right time won out in the end. Can't wait for the game against England.
England only ever seem to raise their game against tougher opponants so who knows. It will be a good game I think.
I know one thing, the portuguese population is about to swell by about 20million as the jocks become portuguese for that one match.

I think you'll find that, at most, two of the bookings were uncalled for. That's more than outweighed by the twelve or so booking during the mass brawl that he *didn't* give out.
There shouldn't have been enough players on the pitch to even finish that game, tbh. It's about time referees did a serious clampdown; because after that happens once and a team gets expelled for bad discipline, there won't BE any more mass brawls. ________________________________________________

A good few of those tackles were nothing tackles i.e coming together of legs and the like. Just as a good few of them were absolute shocking tackles that deserved a straight red.
I'm not against players getting booked, the Deco example being a case in point (deco should have got a red for his tackle on the first yellow) and it's examples like that, that show that the ref got it wrong more times than he got it right yet the play acting isn't getting punished so players are dropping like flies just to get the opponents booked. Is that what you would want to become the norm? The players deciding the outcome by their theatrics and not by their playing ability. It's a physical game and it should be played as such. Book those that foul, or are guilty of persistant infringement of the rules (mistimed tackles but not dangerous). But also book those that play act to get opponents booked. Grown men should not drop to the floor like they've been shot by an elephant gun, it's embarrassing.
There was almost a mass brawl despite all those bookings (20 in all, for 25 recorded fouls) so your theory falls flat on it's face right there. If emotions run high, people will react out of sorts, they dont think about the consequences till after. Human nature.

I agree with you mate. On paper England have one of the best teams in the contest, unfortunately the games are being played on grass, not paper. And yes, germany reached the final without being good, but they also managed to avoid any good teams throughout the tournament, something England will not be able to do. Plus the fact, they were well organised, again England cannot even say they are well organised.
IMHO they need to play quicker(not easy with the heat, I know) but if they keep playing slow, pedestrian football, they will continue to create almost no chances in a game. your midfield is going to have to live upto the hype they have recieved if you are to have any chance against the better teams bud. -----------------------------------------------

I don't get how you can say the ref was fair in that match! He practically screwed netherlands out of two penalty kicks. Ok maybe one of the fouls in the box might not of looked like a foul so he didn't call it. But when a ******* defender kicks a dude in the upper chest completely missing the ball that is a foul!! Only reason it didn't get called is cause unlike the portuguese teams, the players on the netherlands weren't pussies and would roll around on the ground every time they got bumped into.
