Red boxes vis blue boxes mixed with purple and green boxes ...
No changs to not compare it with Atari 2600 block-graphics :(.
There ARE realy cool ships with great texturs ... you just never see them except when spinning them in station. But as soon as you fly your very first Mission, you soom out so far, that you can't even see your own ship ... enemys are ALLWAYS just red blinking boxes anyway :(. And if you don't soom out so far, you might get navigation problems pritty fast.
I don't know how to solve this problem ... but the coolest part (space game with cool ships) is the worst part at the same time (box vis box fights).
PS: ironicly it makes the great and new animated Turrets ... so damn useless as there is no changs to see them fire if you can't see the ship at all *CRY* |

I can see my own ship fine, but as it would be in real (ish) combat, can't see the enemy other than the sensor blips (red boxes). |

On the contrary. I find I've zoomed out more in small gangs because it's more of a numbers game of keep at distance, approach, and manual course corrections relative to the enemies on the field. In fleets I can zoom in and enjoy the ships because it's little more than "orbit the anchor" or approach the target en masse and "shoot the primary." |

Flight recorder that allows you to replay an engagement with various camera angles, moving them, cutting, etc.

The aspect ratios in eve lead to it being quite small, check out STO's graphics, which are VERY nice, even if the game isn't. Let us eat cake! -áI mean open containers in corp hangers please ... Let us stack all modules (eliminate repackaging), except damaged ones, give them a red hue/icon. Let us see damaged drones in our drone bay!

Quote:Reson why most videos and fights in EvE are boring
Action: simplest
Environment: poor
Action engaged: "and..." -that's the feeling you have when you look at each and every video of Eve.
I'd like dozens of fracking buttons of different actions, engagement systems, options (flying), skills actually meaning something.
Unfortunately it doesn't, all you have to do is fly Minmatar/Angel.
This is one of the reasons it sucks that much. |

we just need a smaller map-like secondary screen to see the red-orange-purple-blue boxes with blinky ****.
While the rest of the screen is filled with the usual EVE stuff, and your ship zoomed in its full glory.

Don't worry soon enough you'll have full blues in null wherever you go, the only reds you'll see is high sec bears.
Interesting game.
Or not.

The best EVE combat videos IMHO are the ones RnK make. Not because of the battles but because they add in their Comm's and commentary. This makes the videos 100x better then people running pvp videos to music.
It would be cool if CCP implemented a record function that recorded all actions on grid, and allowed you to go back and replay the actions on grid as well edit them and move the camera around.
This would prove 2 functions.
1. It could be used as a learning tool for new pilots, watch this replay tell me what was done wrong here type stuff or see where you made the mistake in a loosing battle.
2. It would allow for more cinematic type PVP battles where you could zoom in between ships and showing different angles.
I don't know how hard this would be to do but if it was possible it could be amazing. I am pretty sure SC2's replays work like this. |

That would be great but you really can't imagine how much "stuff" (hardware) from your side this would ask.

Ya I can smell the frying circuit boards from here, but it would be epic. Could you imagine the player made movies? The fact that people could make epic space battles post them on YouTube. It could increase the subscriber base if combat could look cool. My wife loves the idea of eve. The epic space battles the cool looking ships. She hates the fact that she feels like shes playing an excel spread sheet. She has never spent more then 30 min playing even because of the UI and the way the game actually acts. |

You zoom out as the targets start at around 25km (Tutorial mission). As soon as you can see your ship AND the enemys on screen ... your ship is to small, to see the model. Same for enemy ship models. They are so small, that you can't realy see them, when you are in optimal range of your tutorial weapons. Same for Battleships in level 4 missions. While some close range BS are fine, 50km orbiting BS are allready red boxes (Ghurista for example). With some luck you see a black-somthing within the red box. But that's all :(.
Nova Fox wrote:Dunno having alot of red boxes going flashy on me makes me panic every fleet fight i ever been in. I don't say, red boxes can't be a thrill ;). But actual see the enemys ships (the white in the eyes) would be even MORE thrill *g*.
To make this wors, you don't even see your or your enemys shots most of the time when they use Autocannons or Rails. Lasers are fin (if you see shots, it's allways lasers). Missiles up to some range too.
But ... some of the bigged ships (BS+ size) are hundrets of meters up to some kilometer in size ... how can it come, that I see just a red box at 50km ? |

Say what you want about Star Trek Online, but the mandatory 10 km max weapon range at least makes fights look cool. Pity it has nothing else going for it. |
