The idea is a starbase that lasts maybe 24-48 hours at MOST. Fuel is built-in. CHEAP to build and has a small volume. Also a small shield radius (smaller than a small tower). Has perhaps 75% of the PG/CPU of a small tower. I am being vague here. Just something to base out of for a short stay somewhere. Must unanchor structures before the time is up, otherwise they may be unanchored by anyone. Maybe have it at 100% shields at online. Regardless, if it goes into armor, the built-in stront keeps it up until it would normally disappear anyways. Can't be destroyed (it is disposable). Can not be unanchored for reuse. Or maybe allow it to be unanchored, but when reanchored, has the same timer left on it (can't be refueled) that it had when it was unanchored. Since the disposable POS dies anyways, if in reinforced mode, all modules stay online regardless. Otherwise putting it into reinforced is a default win.
Potential uses: you are an industrialist. You build stuff. At a POS. You are in Amarr space but need Gallente ice and want to harvest it yourself. Bring an Orca, some retrievers or Macks (inside the Orca) along with your disposable POS and a Ore Compression Array (not yet released) into Gallente space and mine your ice. Here you have a disposable POS anchored with your compression array. Compress it. Ship it back in your Orca or maybe a DST.
Or perhaps an excursion into low-sec for mining or ice/gas harvesting. Like a mobile depot: can be anchored anywhere.
This is just an idea of mine. Feel free to say how much it sucks :) I was deliberately vague on implementation so that improvements can be suggested if this idea has any merit at all.
And a less PG/CPU intensive ship maintenance array as well (with less volume as well) |

People that run towers know how useful they are but even those are really useful in systems without stations. any system with a station you either station or you leave. so limited use. I think we should let CCP focus on the blue donut of zombie beess |

I'm pretty sure you can easily take a small POS, modules and fuel to where you need them in a couple of iteron V's. Then you can also pack it up and move on when you're done. |

I believe you are right. I guess the only thing that would make this proposal workable is if it anchors and onlines in 30 seconds or less, and if you can anchor it anywhere (not just at a moon). |

Prorator has tower 1 hour of fuel sma and stront and prowler has the rest of stront and whatever fuel is left. IIRC thats 41h stront and 3 days of fuel or something.
EvE-Mail me if you need anything.

Is my tower being sieged? Ho ho ho, it's of no consequence, I'll just slap up another temp POS and shift all my stuff over to it! good thing it can go into RF as soon as it goes online, and has a 30 second online timer. And that I have 15 of them in stock so I can just keep shifting POS's when one is going to go down. That's not horrifically broken or anything. |

But can't this be countered by max distance to another POS ? It can still be anchored 'anywhere', just not too close. That way you can be blapped during transfer. Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |
