Im off to Germany (Berlin) on sunday for a week (no I am not going for the footie), and wondered if anyone could recommend any good places to go see or stuff to do?
There are 3 of us going and we are going on the cheap (cheap flights, staying in hostel etc), think we have a pub crawl tour booked or something.
Any ideas would be great! Thanks

Eat at Daitokai in the Europa Center. Amazing japanese food, cooked at your table.
I think Blue Man Show is still in Berlin atm. It's quite fun to watch. ---

Berlin is Germany's nightlife center. I do not have any insider tips, since I do not live there, but when you can read German, you might buy a copy of "Zitty", which lists lots of events in Berlin. You can even go to zitty.de and search for things in advance .
The new Regierungsviertel is impressive, if you don't hesitate to queue up you might want to go and climb up to the glass-roof of the Reichstag, the German Parliament building.
When you are into such, board a train and go to Potsdam and visit Sanssouci, the second biggest renaissence garden and palace installation in the world (Versaille being the biggest).
The new Berlin Hauptbahnhof might be worth a visit, it is the most expensive railway station ever build in the world and was opened just last month.
When you want to recover from nightlife a bit, there is lots and lots of nature, lakes and forests in and around Berlin. Don't forget to bring your swimming gear!

You could go see the Concetration Camps, or simply take the World War tours. That's just me though cause I'm a WW2 fanatic. --- --- --- ---

Heh, none of us speak german or can read it, so dont think that "Zitty" will be all that much help.
Thanks for ideas.

Not a good idea if you want to have a happy trip tbh. Sony centre is fairly amasing and worth a look.

What she says! Can you imagine half a million people just partying on the streets? Only a small fraction of them are actually watching the game!

It's even funnier when germany wins, cuz traffic in whole city comes to stop... ppl marching thru the streets.
And 90% of the lightly-dressed girls are not there to watch football but young muscly men ... so bring some rubbers. ---

Cant say that often enough, that stupid official fifa approved industrial beer is not recommended, get some good german beer, tons of diffrent ones to choose from, lots of good ones too

Change "beer" for vodka and it sounds pretty damn good.
I assume you gotta be 18 to buy alcohol in germany?

You can buy beer, wine and champagne at 16, everything else at 18. But don't spoil the experience with getting yourself unconscious. Drinking some alcohol to loosen up is fun, getting drunk is just dumb and totally uncool. Would make the rubbers useless as well...

Best Beers: Pilsener: Krombacher, Warsteiner/Paderborner (Paderborner is same beer but costs 5 Bucks for a crate)... Warsteiner Premium Verum will give you big-time hangover though. Flavoured: Becks Green Lemon Weizenbier: Erdinger Weissbier ---

Well it was damn hot, but I had a great time. Went on organised pubcrawls twice which were awesome!
They cost 10euros but you get free shot of jagermeister and apple snapps from the guides and 2-3 more free shots from the bars you go to. Get to meet some people visiting berlin, (lots of austrailians)
One of my fav holiday photos
Trains are teh win and so are 99c Currywurst, and raspberry beer. However, german toilets are the lose, BIG time.
