Would it be possible to get some sort of idea on when the next mirror onto the the test server is likely to be?
Ive just come back to the game and would like to try some things out  |

*bump* My char was inactive at last mirror (over a month ago now) and I wanted to test something last night and couldn't :'(
Any news on next mirror?

could take some time before the next mirror is due.
as this one is only a month old orso and people training
up for stuff for testing will have that reset.
then again they could do one whenever they like so fingers crossed

Having mirrored some time soon would be nice, as ive just found its rather behind my Char on TQ and i dont feel like waiting to train up the same skills so i can have a play with the ships/items ive recenlt trained to use. But hay that remind me of the thing about training times could possably do with being faster so it dosent take so long to train on the test, to test new toys.

the problem there is that it would affect the training people did on the testserver aswell :) they would all be reset to there TQ char which some might not really look forward to just yet.

wont be mirrored until Kali patches are ready whcih might be another month off yet

I hope your right... Im in the middle of testing cap ship construction, would be a real ***** if it mirrors again ( we have been doing it for the last 4 times it mirrors, but it mirrors to fast to get somthing built, or atleast has been.)

Needs to be some sort of signup process where people can apply to get mirrored, but if your not on that list your character on test stays as it is.

I know eve isn't heavy on commands but when I was beta testing the last EQ2 expansion if you wanted your character copied to the test server you'd type /up (as in upload) or /beta and it would flag your acct / character to be mirrored. Maybe something could be added to the Account Management page to facilitate this.
I know it's more work and there are plenty of more important things to be done, just throwing it out there.

I think the main problem is peoples acount being inactive at the time of miroring. Now no offence but a 5 day old noob char will not be much good at testing anything. But its the older players that will be more usefull. Its not so much the SP update , but the fact ur account is inactive on SiSi. Could some kind of script be ran dureing TQ DT to even just update whos account is inactive and whos arent. How long would that take? Im not an SQL expert but i dont imagine that long. What do others think?

I reckon it would be quite easy to write something to copy all the accounts from the Live to the test server but not overwrite any existing accounts...
Unfortunitly i think the database has all the accounts still in the database just unusable. I guess if a check for wheter accounts were active and make active those that werent would be the way to go... and if its just a field in the database its easy to do every downtime. But that assumes its set up like that.
I think the problem is its always going to suck everytime a new mirror is done, and it get worse the longer it lasts. If training were sped up or altered somehow to allow people to test new thing immediatly (which is one of the reason the test server exists) then it would allow frequent mirroring.
Ive somehow never been mirrored onto the server... except once after my account expired and that kinda sucks for me.

Long ago, before i took a break from the game, i remember the training time was decreased to allow for quicker training but i dont remember whether that was just before an expansion or that just how it was for a while... Guess it doesnt matter seeing as i cant get on there anyways
