G'day All,
Just a quick note to say that i really enjoy playing eve! I think the entire eve community rock's. This is a great game barr the lag during fleet battles I'd just like to say with the emerging power that is BoB, thing's are getting more interesting... any alliance that can rival BoBs dominance deserve's a big hand and they do need a challenge.
Overall this is one great and engrossing game that all people from around the globe enjoy.
So to you eve guy's keep up the fighting and flying..!
Regard's the Death Rayy of E-Uni TBB Alliance.
P.s may the TBB continue to prosper...

tbh eve sucks more then ever.
Community and so maybe be great, but the gameplay sucks atm, with this whole "u need be a an outpost bulding, pos anchoring, titan mining, pvp alliance" the whole thing becomes boredom. Not to mention the lack of most alliances to risk something.
I would like to see some less pos bs and more pvp.
hey but thats jsut me :) I show u how to lead your fleets check it here |

First you have industry, then you have homeland security and then you have what goes on in foreign regions. You mate excel in the latest of these and you shouldn't have to worry about pos. Unless it's about conquest. Personally I think it would be a waste of Gyro's qualities to have him think about pos's :)

Hey All,
WoW i got replies in my post cool didn't expect that thank's all your posts all rock!
Another topic to discuss... paranoia..what'cha gonna do when bob or MC come for you?? well the answer is simple for the TBB boot any player who speak's highly of MC or BoB.
They may not smack talk in local MC but they sure smack and whack in their corp chat's. I got booted for refusing to suggest MC's contract sucked! they *TBB* even believe i am an alt for MC or BoB Ummm... has that waiting list shortened MC? no i didn't think so.
Anyway Good job you did on TBB they are still rebuilding.
I guess they start by booting player's who aren't Anti-MC or Anti-BoB
So much for their neutrality I am glad to be gone from an alliance that has war dec's every two week's i guess the shark's can smell blood or territory i don't know.
Any Corp interested in a player that can fly a BS with tech 2 weaponary I need a home
ok that's enough Anti-TBB for now nite all fight strong fly well. Death Rayy former E-uni TBB

Amusingly, on the same note, there were a lot of posts telling us how we were at our weakest point ever, were on the way out and could do nothing in eve.
A month later we were in ec- alongside ascn and changed the whole map along with it.
I love underestimation on a grand scale.

LOL You werent capable of fighting an industrial alliance alone (TRUST), so you called in ASCN's help.
Do us all a favour and stop the mission running and grow a pair and attack a major alliance instead of the small alliances ie IMP, huzzah, etc.
If you kick ASCN out of there home space you may get the credit you so clearly crave.
Oh yes Ill post with my main when you post with yours

Instead of all this chest beating go and fight a major power instead of this propaganda nonesense you write on the forums. You are typical bullies and will only fight the small and the weak ie Stain, Imp, Huzzah. When it came to fighting a major alliance G2/Trust you call in the biggest alliance in game for help. So please put your money where you mouth is and fight instead of ganking.
BoB is the "Ginger Magician" of Alliances, gank and run.
It would actually do you a favour but who knows maybe your about to announce your next targets? I see your spending a lot of time ganking newbs in empire so maybe is Viziam?
I await the BoB onslaught with baited breath

First you have industry, then you have homeland security and then you have what goes on in foreign regions.
That kind of makes me wonder about the possibilities for setting up different organizational structures within large alliances.
In real life organizations you have people specialize and work with other folks who share their speciality. It makes sense to divide workload according to what people are good at, right? But this doesn't get translated so well to EVE's large alliances. In ASCN it seems everyone is responsible for every major goal: "I want every corporation to provide 22 billion isk by xxx date so we can arm our constellations when Kali hits." "Every corporation needs to have a minimum of XXX dreadnoughts." "I need as many sniping BS's as possible for the fleep op this weekend."
It doesn't really make a ton of sense from a command and control stand point to have these industry and military goals assigned to the same folks. Here's a few problems.
Consider a corporation who has 20 industry guys and 40 pvpers. As long as the CEO knows whats going on, he can partition workload. But say you have 10 of these corporations working together, all about the same size, and different industry:pvper ratios. And the decisions arent made by the CEO, theyre made by the alliance dictator, who isn't familiar with the internal composition and capability of each corporation. He asks for equal contributions from each corp, but its easier for some corps and harder for some corps to meet different types of contributions. And none of that is visible to the dictator from his macroscopic viewpoint. This results in inefficiency and stress.
Also consider the matter of intel. One model of epic conflict has been demonstrated in ECP8R, with a blob forming and the system being locked down by attackers such that an assault would be suicide. This worked because the defenders had no clue it was coming. Imagine the same assault with 200 defenders ready and waiting. If the defenders are good EC would not have changed hands, if they had intel beforehand. Now a large alliance like ASCN can't take a squat in the woods without its enemies knowing. All those miners and mission runners being in the same corp as their pvpers, its pathetically easy to infiltrate. So E3-SDZ was a deathtrap for them when they tried to ECP8R it.
Consider the matter of corporation recruitment for a large alliance. Can you imagine Outbreak ever joining ASCN? If ASCN was properly managed with subdivisions and different groups taking on different responsibilities, maybe. But the organic hodge podge of responsibilities doesn't appeal to a machined structure like Outbreak. By not creating clear division of roles a large alliance ensures that they will not attract specialists.
Imagine that CYVOK sits down with all his corporation CEOS and they all agree about this stuff - a monumental task, but for the sake of argument. They shuffle around their membership to create corps with different roles . . . empire carebearing, 0.0 general operations, and some kind of elite military corp. 15mill skillpoint minimum and well known players to keep out spies. Suddenly security is managable and they can make a decent offer to purposeless vagabond corporations like Outbreak. Suddenly they can successfully assault a group of players less than 1/10th their size.
For small, growing alliances, beware of unplanned organic growth. Pick a structure early that is exapandable to fit the size of your dreams. For the large organic alliances, restructure or live with a large degree of impotence and vulnerability.
I have a lot of respect for the players and alliances who spend their time productively building things. The contributions of every active player give EVE a rich backdrop for me to generate killmails.

Thing is, Marko, the structure of ASCN, for example, goes down from CYVOK. There is no "council", he basically said (ad lib) "Follow me and I will lead you, but I am in charge, if you don't like it go somewhere else" - exit stage left (on friendly terms) Axiom, because Steelrat wanted more of a say in what went on - and more power to him.
You're about right with regards to the structures of the corporations, too, but the mentality of those corps and the people within in them is pretty crucial - and the overall "point" of the corporation goes along way to deciding how effective these are. For example, RKK are a combat organisation - everything we do is geared towards fighting, everyone pulls in the same direction, heck we even build outposts, but we do so not to build more outposts (though we probably will) but so that we can still make money whilst we're off on a campaign. This is an offensive mentality (in more ways than one if you take notice of these forums heh)
ASCN, however, build outposts so they can build more outposts so they can build a few more outposts and then defend them. This is a defensive mentality.
In the former model our industrial guys are all pretty much communist - they don't really have their own cash and their goals are "to replace a lots battleship within 4 hours" or "ensure we have enough stocks in strategic locations that we can up sticks for a weekend at an hours notice to the other side of the galaxy".
The formers goals are to "fortify our own space" or "produce materiale at 50% net profit" etc.
Strangely enough both seem to work pretty well (ascn withstood a massive beating from [g] for example) but I certainly know which one I find more fun (I've done both) and, ultimately, which one I think would come out on top in a prolonged fight.

Its all about getting satisfaction out of your time investment in the game. Most people I know in ASCN get their satisfaction out of being part of empire-building, and each person contributes to that in his or her own way. If people weren't having fun then we wouldn't have people constantly applying to join, which I'm sure is the same case for BoB. Getting a spy into a 3K member alliance isn't exactly an accomplishment worth getting too excited about.

ASCN withstood [G] attack only because you (BoB) joined the battlefield. Skill >> Numbers. Unfortunately, there is one thingie, called "game mechanics". If CCP will manage to fix lags (bit optimistic) - alliances, who isn`t relying on skill - will fall. ----------------------------------------------- Logged in a system, next to you =) |
