I have read a few posts that talked about someone trying to log off to save their pod/ship...
Does this work? Does your ship dissapear? I thought that it stayed behind. Does this only work for pods?
What about people talking about logging off at a safe spot? Are they just taking a risk of someone triangulating them?
Man, when do I learn everything there is to know about this game?? (tongue firmly in cheek)

If you are not flagged, your ship will warp off 1 million km and disappear.
If you are flagged, your ship will warp off 1 million km, sit there for 15 minutes, in this timeframe you can still be scanned down and killed. After 15 minutes it will disappear.
As for your last question, never. ---

Ok, just so I get this straight... I sometimes get answers to questions but the language used may have some ... gaps...
I THINK your answer is spot-on, but I want to make totally sure.
Ok. By "DISAPPEAR" you mean the ship is no longer in the system (for all practical considerations) and cannot be found using advanced scanning techniques and cannot therefore be killed by rats or pirates... right?
Thanks.

yes, when it disappears it is no longer in space anywhere, and cannot be found ---

Incorrect afaik
You have to wait 15 mins AFTER flagging has finished (30mins total) or you will still remain in space after logging. I learnt this the hard way with a navy raven

The flag resets to 15 minutes if you log off before it's run out.

all posts above me and below me are incorrect, the fact is if you log out your ship automatically warps to the nearest gate and sits there forever till it gets destroyed.
no lie, so dont log out if you see local go up ---------

You do realize that if anyone agrees with you, you have effectively made your own statement void? It would also cause this post to be a paradox.

Is it still true, whereby, if you log on your alt on the same account that your ship disappears even if flagged.
I know it used to work, i swear someone did this to us last night, awaiting petition response.
