Edited by: Hans Roaming on 29/06/2006 11:36:49 As leaked in another thread IÆll be stepping down as President of the Huzzah Federation this isnÆt due to internal issues or anything I just fancy a change of role and not having to be in convoÆs all the time. I have led the alliance for over 8 months now and weÆve grown from a 230 member noob alliance NPCing in Providence into a 1500 member noob alliance fielding caracals at anyone who comes our way. Anyway it will allow me to treat my ships more like my women, get inside them ten times a day and take them to heaven and back, what more could one want?
The Huzzah Federation is currently in the middle of election fever with two good candidates that are in the middle of debating their manifesto with the proletariat of Huzzah. Of course it doesnÆt mean they will actually do any of what they say as they are politicians, but itÆs nice to see some healthy forum activity. Voting starts on Monday the 3rd and the winner will be announced on Monday the 10th.
I have been told that I will be nailed to the Chief diplomat Desk while not in my pod so all external contact will be the same, come complain at me when our pilots screw up. Whilst flying ships I'll be out there making things explode or leading fleets into certain death as per normal, just a lot more frequently, Huzzah!

Have fun Hans, you will find it nice not having 5 convo requests on sceen load!
BTW curious as to how is the voting taking place? only CEOs vote? or all alliance memebers have the right to? if so, is that done in game(alliance mail, special mailing list, share votes), or via the forums? ------------------ If you are tired of fleet combat lag, post HERE

We have a poll on the fourms where everyone in Huzzah can vote for candidate A or B, we have a week of them posting their manifesto and answering questions and then a week of voting to allow those who only come on at say the weekend a chance. The presidents are domocratically elected by the population of Huzzah however they have executive authority to make decisions whilst the senate of CEOs exists to impeach a bad president or to bring in laws such as the one requiring every corp to run a strategic large death star POS.
This system generally keeps a president honest and thinking of the alliance needs as if they do a rubbish job then they can be removed from office by a vote of CEOs. By doing it this way you tend to be able to react fast and make decisions without the paralisis of voting for every decision made but with the machinery in place to remove a benign dictator from office if they go bad. Laws can be generally be voted in as they are not so time critical and also a law should be agreed to be followed as the CEOs ultimatly are the ones who enforce it as they are the only ones with the machinery to do so (i.e. kick members).

i dare say that huzzah might have a workable leadership plan in place - it does sound like a very good system as opposed to say ASCN which set standings and have a higher up control or goonfleet which just goes with the zerg or BOB who generally have 5 very large corps with even membership and a more highly efficent but mobile membership able to take their own inivitiative or FIX who used to have a council of CEOs and general policies were set in place but commanders had fleet say.

Gotta give you props Hans. IMO your actions and words on this forum & in game while president are a large part of why Huzzah has gained so much respect and recognition throughout the EVE community. You've provided your entire alliance and the community at large with an exemplary display of polite, intelligent, and respectful conduct. I hearby want to nominate you for President of the United States as a representative of the Democratic National Committee. Your convo skillz and l33t caracal will mean instant victory in the 'War on Terror.' <3

Hans - you are one of the top 5 alliance leaders in eve. It would be a huge mistake if you stepped down. Your alliance is looked at favorably largly because of your individual actions. Huzzah has potential only if you are their leader. Do not resign.

Credit where credit is due. Hans has done a fine job with Huzzah; you've maintained a superior forum presence and heightened HF's profile with class, you've very rapidly grown HF from a few hundred members to an alliance ranked amongest the largest in Eve, and you've successfully navigated many of the dangers associated with politics, rapid growth, and the occasionally dysfunctional alliance member or two. Glad to see you'll be fronting the diplomacy for Huzzah - be sure to keep a short leash on the new leader.
Ofc, you dropped your NAP to FIX, and I'm still gonna shoot ya. There is no gain without risk.
PS. Skoda, I get the hint, you'll get your sig, just remove that travesty of a MS Paint job!

As a member of Huzzah from close to the beginning, I'd like to say that I've been proud to fly under the leadership of Hans. I am excited about one candidate in particular, but that in no way means that I am eager to see Hans step down. The journey of Huzzah from past to present has been nothing short of interesting both through the bad times as well as the good. I would be worried if Hans was not going to be the Chief Diplomat as he has earned respect amongst the EVE community as shown in this post.
I look forward to the future of Huzzah and its interaction with all of the other alliances. See you in space.

Backdoor, darling, I've been living in Catch for three weeks now, and I have yet to run into you.
Do come by Huzzah Assembly sometime and we'll have some lunch. I've bought a condo there and it's just dreadful -- the prior owner just had no talent for decorating -- and I'd love to hear your ideas for making it fabulous. Perhaps we can do a bit of shopping as well.

On behalf of myself and the CVA I would like to congratulate Michelle Reed on her victory.
The CVA and Huzzah have been friends for a long time and it would be nice to see this relationship continue under the new leadership.
I can still remember when Huzzah first talked to us to let us know they planned to move in south of our 'patch' in Providence and from that time watched you grow and develop from a virtual nothing into one of the best known alliances in the EVE universe.
While we no longer work together as closely as we once did due to your gradual 'southern drift', I would hope that we can maintain good relations.
Please pass on my condolences to the losing candidate.
Good luck Michelle and Huzzah...

Edited by: Ange1 on 10/07/2006 19:22:04 I so bet you wished you killed our Nyx the other night as a closing to your holding of Office Hans. I can only imagine as we were shouting "yessss!" in the living room you lot were going "nooooo!" on TS when we did an emergency jump
Congrats to the new President, The Establishment looks forward to its future dealings with you

Indeed it would have been good, although imagining what you guys were saying when we dropped out of warp on top of your nyx and decloaked it made up for it. Need more NOS and neuts next time I think.

Seek said local was rising rapidly, I shouted for people to get to safes and suddenly Igno is telling us that a big fleet just warped right on top of the Nyx. My immediate reaction was simply to mutter "oh s**t" and most of us gathered round his monitor. The room was deathly silent almost and it was lagging quite badly, but he managed to find the jump button and get out and a roar of cheers went about the room.
Despite this and the loss of our cyno Falcon, our subsequent engagements of warping the Nyx on its own against you made up for it ;)
Our GSY guys were pottering about in cruisers when we joined up to their gang and the NOS BS pilots didn't remember to insta their BS out when they had fighters on them .

Yeah, it was my mistake. for a minute I forgot fighters arent drones, for some reason I instinctively thought he will just tell them to attack another ship when I warp out.
How that ceptor followed me to the planet I have no idea, he wasnt on gate when I warped off so couldnt see my path.
Other than that, the only reason he cought me on second warp was because I didnt have safespot in that system, and the drones were closing on me so didnt have time to select better warp point (oops again, fighters! ).
Otherwise the ceptor wouldnt have cought me...
Looking forward to the next warp in over your Nyx
BTW, any of you guys noticed how much cap did Igno had when he jumped? just wonder how much did we suck before he managed to jump? ------------------ If you are tired of fleet combat lag, post HERE

I don't know about cap, we didn't particularly care at the time
As for the 'ceptors, we do try to keep an eye on your ships at all times, don't forget that

Unless mothership are different, you require at least 70% of cap to jump.

Interesting, congrats to winner and also my condolences to the winner. Oh and yes I mean it that way and the winner's life just got to be more interesting than they realized although with Hans as a buffer it may not be to bad.
