Please folks, all i ask is for people to give good advice or just do not reply at all if you don't, i have to make a tough decision and it will be a decision bassed on this posts replies. Right now im part of a corp in low sec space, this my alt as i do not want to alarm folks in my corp about me leaving.
I have been discontented with the growth of my wealth and i have been looking for ways to start making some solid isk. I joined my corp close to the begining of my gameplay with eve and so i have never really done missions or complexes. I have been reading posts all over about people doing lvl 3 and 4 missions and seem to be doing well. Where im at right now the angel drops are for the most part pathetic, i have been ratting them for 3 months and have yet wo see an arbalest heavy launcher drop.
I have been thinking as of late weather it would be worth it for me to leave my corp and go back to empire to start up my ranks in missions, i know lvl 1 and 2 missions probably do not pay a whole lot but im wondering the kind of ISK one can make with lvl 3 and 4 missions. Is it worth it for me to move my ships and equipment back to empire to be solo and do mission runs.
I even took up the line of mining to get to a hulk so i can mine faster however im not yet certified for hulk and we are always under attack from alliance and corp wars that i cannot get a solid few hours of piece to mine when i get to log in, so in essance im choked down and cannot make good isk. I love the folks i play with but in the end im unhappy about my personal progress in the game.
Please post the pros and cons of mission running and give as much insight as you would like.

Misison running Pros: Easy money once you figure out the proper straetgy for that mission, especially the level 3s/4s. Low risk
Cons: You are pretty much playing solo. If you need to do the mission in a group, you are better off running lower level missions solo (profit-wise that is). Very grindy and repetative, especially when you are grinding up the low level agents to open the good ones.
Still, much more profitable/enjoyable than mining in safe space

The goal of the game is to have fun. I would say if you're not having fun doing what you're doing, then you'll end up burning out of the game - so, do what would make it more enjoyable.
Or... tell your corp members what you want to do, if they're cool guys/gals, they'll understand.

I know fun is a major factor and really where im at when were not engaged in enemy combat and we can relax and have fun its a blast, they are limited though.
What kind of ISK can one expect to make to dedicate themselves to running lvl 3 and 4 missions. |

Does your corp operate in low sec. or 0.0? If they operate in low sec. you should be able to run missions without having to relocate. Plus, low sec. agents pay better than high sec. ones.

I run lvl 3 missions in a super-tanked Dominix and they usually take me between 15 minutes and an hour to complete. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a lower quality agent so I only make 200k to 1 million in the actual agent rewards, but I find the loot can really add to that. I make sure I'm relatively close to a solarsystem with a busy economy so I can sell off all the random loot I get for a decent price. I find that stuff can add up quickly if you are willing to go through the process of selling it off. I've occassionally found local hull cargo expanders, as well as other decently priced equipment, which definitely adds to the profit. Plus, you get faction missions every 16 missions, and the lvl 3 runs can sometimes score you a 20 million implant. I find it relatively profitable for myself, although it can be a little tedious sometimes. On a good mission I can often pull in in 4 or 5 million, not counting any super good finds. You should scope out a corp with good high quality agents that are easily accessible, and deep in secure space.
P.S. I do not farm missions.

Im in 0.0,we have no agents and were 34 jumps from empire, its a wais and is sometimes hard to travel due to gate camps and pirates. See i do not know enough of mission running although im amaar i primarily fly caldari. BTW where are the lvl 3 and 4 agents located for caldari, if you know a good corp that has high level agents that i could possibly be interested in Later please post it as i would love to look at other avenues, i need a change i can feel it.

well a big wallet isnt the end all be all, if you having fun in 0.0, I would stay there, but make sure your corp knows that you need equipment if they want you defending territory. imho

Edited by: GPerson on 30/06/2006 05:31:41 Note: This is just regarding making money in empire.
This time last week I had 60-ish million in my wallet. Right now I have 80 mil, and a new battleship that is fitted with the best named stuff available(And a small bit of faction). Now, I don't know what your standards for isk making are, so I'll let you decide if you can make a decent profit in empire running lvl 4's..... ~ |

I run L3 missions for Caldari Navy in Kaunokka, Citadel. One station has a Q15 command agent as well as a Q0 command agent. Another station has a Q19 surveillance agent. I run missions for the Q15 and the Q19, and since the LP rewards from the Q0 missions are pretty low, it's possible to stick close to 15k LP until you get the skillbook offers (50-60m profit on each). This is of course also possible on the other two, but if you're out of luck you eventually get too much LP and can't get that offer (yay for LP system)
There are plenty of high quality L1 and L2 agents in the region too, if you need to up your standing, as well as a high quality L4 agent only a few jumps away in Motsu.

Your isk from missions depends on many things. I can only speak of lvl 3 missions so far, did many hundreds of them, untill i started with lvl 4 this week. Make sure you have a system with a security lvl of 0.5 or 0.6, not higher, an agent with the highest possible quality and train up your negotiation skill to at least 3 and the two lp skills to 4 (they are 1x skills so no big business). Of corse you can do it as most people do and loot the cans in your missions, but if you have a high firepower i'd reccomend to make isk with lp. Which means you make the missions in short time, and move to next mission asap. The last few days i did them in a navy raven with 5 dread gurista and 2 arbalest launchers and 3 bcu II. (Didn't have enough money for good fitting so stayed at lvl3s with the cnr for few days). This resulted in an average misson time of like 10 minutes, and payed all in all (reward+bounty+lps) 15-20m / hour. Make sure you only accept offers with lp value of 1Lp=1500isk and higher (usually +3 imps for 15k lp or if your lucky skillbooks). At the beginning, when the whole thing isn't like a routine to you and you don't know evry mission by heart, or have a low damageoutput, you can expect around 5-10m/hour. Not sure though if those numbers are correct for can-looters, i can only speak of the reward of lp-moneymaking tactics when "spamming" lvl 3 missions a.s.a.p. Hope this was of some help for you.

Thanks so much that has helped a bunch. A question that comes to mind, is a ferox good for LVL 3 missions, and seconds would be how do you locate the correct high level agent in a .5 system. What recomended system would you suggest i start, i was told certain locations have more than one agent and you can take multiple missions.

Did all my lvl 3 missions in a passive tanked ferox, not 1 mission broke my tank.
Ferox is a verry good choice for a shield tanker lvl 3

Ferox is great for level 3 missions, Raven is great at level 4 missions. Daily profits for me are between 15 and 30 million isk, + LP's + whatever loot I can find on the missions running level 4's.
The risk is extremely low, once you figure the missions out. Figuring them out can get expensive though, heh.
But definately, if you don't like your current situation, look for a change. If you like your corp, and corpmates, I don't see a real reason not to simply move to empire and remain in your corp and set up a jump clone so you can still pop back out to your corp in 0.0 when they need you for something particular. Don't be a corp slave.
1. If you think you're getting screwed, you probably are. 2. If you aren't getting much out of the corp for what you put into it, see number 1. 3. If you're not having fun, do something else. This isn't your RL job. Ask them to start doing missions together. Couple people doing missions could be fun. If not one single person wants to, leave those losers behind and never look back.

So are the names of the missions the same for all 4 factions? or is it different missions for each faction. What im looking for is either galente or caldari missions and i would like to locate a station with 2 or 3 agents to get me started so i can run 2 or 3 missions at a time.

Mission info http://eveinfo.com/ and http://home.broadpark.no/~tijohann/eve/missions/
Find your agents with this: http://eve.hidden-agenda.co.uk/agent-new.php
If you like grinding and keeping things predictable, then running missions is your thing. I liked them because I was able to plan my way to better equipment and ships. But it sure is repetitive.

Previous poster had it right. I'm guessing if your corp is operating 36 jumps into 0.0 they have an outpost, which you can install a jump clone in. Run your missions in empire and keep a few pvp ships in the outpost. If you have an op you wish to take part in or are urgently needed to defend HQ you can jump back instantly to aid your corp mates.
