Edited by: Jakuan on 30/06/2006 14:57:48 Hey all,
I really hope this isn't against OOP rules...
Just wondering if any of you have been caught up in the mystery surrounding Eon8. Seems fairly dubious, as the decoded references to genetics, the bible, the pentagon and ****s seem to come from the pile of Tom Clancy's failed novel ideas, but there you go...
More info can be found at this ytmnd. It's all a bit intriguing, really; while I remain sceptical, I'm still damn curious!
EDIT - Just checked the forum rules, and I can't figure out whether or not this post is acceptable... :-| *crosses fingers*

They has CERTIFIED their OWN 1024 bits RSA keys? heh, this one is a funny one. Could be a joke, but seems elaborate one. The security used seems good, quite good.

End of the world has come. Start forging your swords and stacking medicine and ammunition
Well anyway, would be quite hilarious if internet would just shutdown .
Or maybe its skynet from the Terminator!

Weird, the development tracker seems to map where people are referred from.
Add your own dot
My guess is that its someone's experiment to see how something like this spreads virally.

Edited by: Montis on 30/06/2006 19:10:15 Have been following this all day, has been posted on digg.com and many other boards too.
Forum - Supposedly, someone who is connected to the project ('GP-X22 (X13600 developer)') has replied and has said:
"Project X3223 is concerning a study on the Human mind and how internet trends are concerned. X3223 Is a very small branch of Eon8"
Also:
"As a developer of a moderately important project I am sorry to say that many of you will be disappointed, or let down, when the veil is lifted. However that does not detract from our project and what is to be unveiled."
All we can do now is wait...
EDIT: hmmmmm, forums wont let me put up that link as there is a "bad" word in it :(

The timer is still chugging away, currently at 6 hours 26 minutes. Btw, the site is still up, just creaking under the strain of traffic; 25million visits today, apparently, due to a web stats page, although i can't find the link atm.

These are fake images, Notice the "My Computer" in the lower right hand corner. Also, if you look right below teh letters, you can clearly see that photoshop has been used to re-write words on the document. Looks like we have to wait another 4.5 hours to see what it really is.

It's technically impossible for the internet to shutdown. It was designed by the U.S. Government(group called D.A.R.P.A) to withstand Nuclear holocuast. In order to shutdown and/or destroy the internet, you would need to find every signle server in every country for any website and shut them down.

Are you agitating my dots?

This....seems pretty interesting, but many things like this have been done before that made the whole internet go into an uproar and then find out it was only a alternate reality game (ARG, like the Halo 2 one, and the one currently going on for Lost)....but...only time will tell. _________________________

EDIT: You can end the countdow nfor your browser by changing the time on your computer to 5am GMT the page just refreshes into a "Page not found" type thing.
