As of right now I am running lvl 3 kill missions in my Ferox and frankly, they've been growing boring. My shield rarley drops below %75. And thats with a gimped passive tank that dosent use Shield power relays
Recently I've been contemplating the move to lvl 4 missions and am wondering if I'll be able to do them in my Ferox. I still have some skills that need traning (BC to lvl 4 for the extra resists, shield mangement to 5 to boost shield hp to the 11,500 mark.
I truly have no idea how well this will work (never even tried a lvl 4) am I insane? am I going to die? am I going to start a revolution in lvl 4 missions running them with something other than a bs? _______________________________

You wont get very far at all in a Ferox. To be able to solo lvl 4's takes a skilled pilot and a HAC or BS. I solo all my lvl 4's in a Rattlesnake which is the 'Easy' button for lvl 4's.

I have thought about it, but when I recall the jump from level 1 to level 2, and then the jump from level 2 to level 3, I don't realy think that there are many level 4s that I could do in my current set up (which is very similar to yours)
Even when I first got my Ferox, it took a while before it was "easy." Individually, I don't think it would be a problem. It is just that there are so many targets in the missions, that you realy need to destroy them fast.

The jump from lvl3s to lvl4 is really big, and shouldnt try anything like a bc till u know what youre doing..just my 2 cents

Just did the first 3 parts of angel extravaganza lvl 4 in my 'rox.
While my tank was never in any real danger of breaking (got down to 50% shield once), my dps kida blew chunks. I was able to kill everything it's just that the BS took something like 5-10 minutes to bring down. I think I'll wait on lvl 4 missions untill I get my nighthawk which will be a while.... _______________________________

try again in a raven, u dont have to wait until the command ship (or the hac which is on the way) -----------------------------

You've found the limiting factor. It's not the inability to tank in a L4 mission. It's simply that it takes too long to bring down a battleship. Some of the harder ones will take longer than 10 minutes.
Having said that, I've found that if you've got a nearby mission AND instas, it is much quicker to use a Ferox to clear out the small stuff and then come back with a Raven to polish off the larger targets. Some of the L4 missions have an absolute buttload of frigates & cruisers. Also, you don't have to worry about aggro'n everything with your drones by using the Ferox.

As long as you are fighting angels its easy to tank lvl 4s most wont require warp outs.
I found that using T2 heavies worked well and the missions were still hugely profitable. Although you still wont come close to killing the boss in Vengence.
I havent run any missions lately but when I do again Im going to try a passive tanked rail Ferox with T2 rails.

Not having done lvl4's in a Ferox (but plenty of PvP/Lvl3), I can only offer this:
I suspect that a Ferox can be setup to tank lvl4's. It has enough cap and shielding to fit a healthy active tank along with it's natural resists.
However, you'd have to devote a good portion of your setup towards the tank. Meaning your damage potential will be almost non-existant.
Ferox's make pretty good 2nd-pilot ships in lvl4's though.

You'll run in to npc's in level 4's that simply cannot be broken by a Ferox. The 400k, 500k, even the 700k battleships are one thing. I don't see any way you'll break one of the 2 or 2.5 million isk bounty npc's without large weapons, or at the very least, a ship that has a built in damage bonus. J.A.F.O.

Edited by: Khyle on 01/07/2006 15:29:58 I did lvl4 in an assault frig for some time out of boredom .
The problem is as already stated the same for the ferox, the npc BSs take ages, and sooner or later youll run into one whose tank is above your capabilities.

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 14/10/2006 11:11:41 I run l4's with a t1/t2 fitted BRUTIX and some good Gunnery, Drones, Electronics, Nav, Mechanics Skills. I accomplished harder ones like Serpentis Extravaganza but not the very hard ones like Worlds Collide oder Mordus, of course.
Needs mid/close range combat tactics and medium drones support is a must.
I am looking forward to the limits ;-)

I used to run all the Angel missions in a T2 fitted Ferox. It worked but it wasnt fast. The missions are harder now so I think you could still run some of them but its really to much work for the reward.

yeah i know what you mean about the easy tanking, little damage on the extravaganza. Im doing them in a Zealot, so count yourself lucky, there resistances to are the worst, even if i got highlt trained tech 2's with 2 damage mods, it can take me up to 5 mins to kill a bs....
Just load up on explosive and u should be able to do enough damge... or just train for a cerebus... wish i had :P

Are there any level 4 missions worth doing in a Ferox instead of a Raven?
I've just had 4 Drone missions in a row, and next time I am thinking it might be quicker in the Ferox

Tanking it will be no problems.. dealing out enough damage to actively kill a battleship in decent time.. undo-able without T2 furies and really good drone skills IMO.

I do infiltrated outposts in my zealot, it's about twice as fast as the raven. It's even possible to fairly simply optimize your killing patern to make looting easyer
i suspect that the ferox might be able to do pretty mutch the same thing |

Ferox lacks punch in lvl 4s but makes up for it by being the best tanker in game for Kinetic or explosive damage.
