As I understand it you can make dreads and carriers at a large ship assembly array. You can use the bpo from a npc station, but the finished product will be located at the array/pos? Now if you want to sell it you need to move it back to the npc station because non corp/alliance members can not access the array. Freighters can't pick up at a pos, and the ship is too large for a freighter or industrial anyway so the only way to move it would be to train the skills to fly one? I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything obvious.
Another question, I've heard freighters will be given the ability to unload/load at a pos. Is this true, anyone got a link?

Edited by: Tempora Ryceo on 30/06/2006 22:33:49 Simply place a Ship Maintenance Array next to the Assembly Array and you can transfer the ship to it. Remember that the ship is assembled when you transfer it to the Maint. array from the assy array.
Heed this warning:
DO NOT try to board the carrier/dread while it is in the maint. array if you do not have the skills to fly it. The maint. array will eject your carrier/dread into space, pilotless.
As far as getting it to the npc station... Ya gotta have the skills or have someone you trust come and move it.
As for your last question... We've been hearing that for a LOOOONG time so don't hold your breath.

Is the moving of ships from an assembly array, to a ship maint array, broken as of the last patch? I get a message stating that the ship must be assembled prior to storage.
[ 2006.08.29 17:11:25 ] (notify) Ship Maintenance Array cannot accept the Osprey unless it has been assembled.
I also tried moving it to my hauler, then to the maint array, same message.
Cheers,

work around for that bug is to move the built ship into a hauler's cargo bay then jettison it you can then board the new ship and store it in the ship maintenance array
this will obviously only work with small ships that can fit inside a hualer.

Like Battleships (ARG have 2 built to sell but can't deploy them, Tomorrow :) )
For your Dread problems, You could probally sell it on the forums or the local channels. If your in an alliance, ask the corps who needs a dread, ETC,
They can come and get it from you at your POS, just after they pay you, (already have the dread in space so they can see it) give them the password so that they can get under the shield and board the ship.
This is how we run our BS sales (or would anyway)

I would assume so, a POS has that nice .75x time multiplier. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

It all depends on one thing: LOCATION
In empire, factories are all over the place, and are dirt cheap, so building there is usally the best route.
In 0.0, you have 2 options:
1) Built at an outpost- This can be tricky, as outposts often are being heavily used by the alliance for construction. You may be lucky enough to get a slot at an amarr outpost, but be ready to pay out the rear for it. Still, if your building something very large, IE dreads, than it may be worth it due to the safety of the build site.
2) Build at a Starbase- A med CT can hold every construction array the basic builder would need (excluding the T2 and Cap ship arrays here). You get a nice .75 build time, and no taxes. The tricky part is that you need the materials at the POS. We currently run a large one for production, and have a full intensive refining array there, which we only run on weekends, and offline the assembly arrays, And during the week, use the materials we just refined to build the stuff. This saves a tad on fuel as well.
In short, a POS would be faster (except mabey an outpost, not sure on the build time there), and in 0.0, is a very good way to go. In empire, a station is usually cheaper in the short term, but is a LOT safer and you also have access to the market from there.

You can build the dreads in the station.. why not just do it there.. its a lot safer. And less work.

Well the ship assembly array gives you a 25% bonus to build speed. As for what can be built where, check out the link in my signature. --

I think (unless im wrong) you are all missing the point, You cant build dreads in empire stations since the introduction of RMR but you can in Empire POS's then jump drive them to low sec if you are close enough.

Yes you can, RMR removed the option to build them in high sec. Low sec works fine. - = - = - = -
