Sometimes they contain information that can lead you to deadspace pockets, or "secret" NPC spawns that are away from asteroid belts.
Reading them carefully and making a note of the places mentioned can sometimes lead you to a good place to hunt NPC pirates.
Be careful though, if you head into low security space to find one, watch out for player pirates!

Bump!
I was hoping a few more players would comment on ship logs. Are they really all that useless?
I thought about following the hints in some of them, but have always been busy with other EVE activities.
Please comment. Thanks!

I copy the details in to a note then reprocess them. Seems the best way to get the most value from them.

I was told in the help channel that the places they mention were taken out of game...i.e. they don't lead anywhere now. Is that not true?

no the complex, locations exists, but those logs got useless, because you can just check the map and search for those places. Most of them refers to DED complexes. F10 [MAP] -> DED
The others mention in that logs, you need just to write a note or make a bookmark in system with note which moon they are. It's also easier to engage them, coz there is no deadspace, so you can freely warp and use your MWD.
But well, just reprocess them as told before, gives a bit of nocx, so its usefull in this case :)

Edited by: Parsava Dei on 25/10/2006 08:14:37 Why reprocess them if they can lead to ¦secret¦ places? Id think that is quite fun: hunting for possible secret area¦s.
EDIT: didnt see the part referring to DED yet..... ill try that tomorrow

Do the logs really point to any real locations anymore? They started to contain useless info years ago, and I haven't seen any note that they would nowadays provide anything better than few mid-price-minerals after reprocessing.
((OOC: are they still bugged, or has their info been fixed to really have some "secret" locations"?)) -- V.H. |
