Just wondering what other players first big achivement was in eve? Mine first and still best 'Yes' was when I hit one billion in my wallet, it was just something about seeing all those zero's , after that I spent it on a raven BPO so it didnt last long.

Had gotten my first intercepter (a Claw) and took it into 0.0. Found an indy, which managed to warp out before I could hit it. A rifter from the same corp came in, and I engaged. While I hit the rifter, the indys flew past and jumped out. This being my first time with a t2 ship, I had a rather crappy setup (arties, ab, web). So the Rifter got out.
Then an AS and a cepter came in and engaged me along with the rifter. They scramed me, but didn't have a web. Being a n00b, I had allowed the fight to take me well off the gate (40km) when I decided I just couldn't take down any of their ships with the arty setup, so I tried to run back to the gate. I was in structure when I heard the gate activate for my jump out. I warped straight to a safe spot and logged (this was before the aggression timer delayed your ship from disappearing).
Taking on 3-1 odds and managing to survive felt like quite an accomplishment (though I know now that I did a lot of things wrong). I was ecstatic with my first real taste of PvP combat. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

Heh, I did the exactly the same with my first b. Then the bs bpc market went all ****ty, but it's ok now, so no worries.
Anyways, I think my first solo bs kill has been my biggest achievement so far.. At least, that was what I've felt most happy about.

Edited by: Demangel on 01/07/2006 00:31:27 My first thorax.
I began the game around release, back thenmaking a million ISK required a bit more than it does now, and a thorax was normaly around 8-9 million without fitting. Back then too, there wasn't quite as much info about how to get by in EVe, you pretty much had to learn by doing, and doing with people who have done better already.
In the end thanks to my playstyle, and how the corp handled income (we had to donate most of our work and time to the corp back then) I had to spend about 3-4 months before my first thorax finaly found it's way into my hangar (it was payment from the corp for doing something, I forget what.). The thorax was at the time my dream ship, and TBH to this day is still something special to fly, even though I am more familiar with how thoraxes look than any other ship in the game, and now fly bigger (or sometimes smaller) and better ships, I will never forget the feeling of fitting my 5 TI 250MM rails for the first time, plus some piddly shield tank, and other nonsense (yeah I had no idea how **** poor that was back then, but it didn't matter much then either because amar tended to dominate the gallaxy followed closely by Caldari.
Other big YES, or WOW (first time events).
1: First ship bigger than a frigate I ever saw: Bestower on route to 0.0, with me in an atron and corp mates in junk frigs too. 2: First cruiser I ever saw: Exequerer easily plinking what where then UBER belt rats with rails at range. I thought "Holy hell thats cool." 4: First big ship other than a tristan I flew was a simple Iteron MKI... It got the job done... And helped me mine faster as I saved loads of time on the hauling. 5: First cruiser I owned: Exequerer, it was cheap, and with it, I was able to make money even faster. 6: I never got into BS's until fairly recently, I wanted to spec in cruiser and below, maybe go for BC's as my "heavy" ship. When I got my first inty (taranis) I nearly peed myself... 7: First PVP action, I wound up in a few fleet fights, and had single handedly killed a (then very dangerous thanks to cruise missiles) Vigil, of a pilot who I had crossed paths withbefore and only barely escaped alive. 8: First PVP loss: Back when cruise missiles fiton kestrels I had a run in with a crow while in my Ranis. Back then the Ranis had a 50/50 chance of winning but only if everything happened at the exact right moment... Needless to say, I failed miserably. 9: First semi big ship: A brutix... Back when it was super gimpy... Lost it on a level 10: mission with scrambler NPC's, and only blasters fitted with cruisers pummeling me while I was webbed and scrambled... I quickly trained up for Prophecy, and with it, the money came rolling in. 11: I had about 40 million saved up for a Domi, or Geddon (didn't know which I was going to go for as both where in reach), Eventualy I decided to stay with gallente, and suicided my prophecy... My first domi was an amazing thing for me... 10: First AF: An Ishkur, and an Enyo bought together, love both ships a whole lot still. 11: First Painful PvP loss: I was in my Domi ratting in 0.0, was heading for alliance station, and some enemies had just arrived too... I got ganked like a nub... I learned a lot that time, and didn't whine even a bit... just fired up my Ishkur and hit the belts for more ratting 12: First mega: After losing my first domi in 0.0, I decided to try out a mega for my next ship... I ratted guristas for a while with my ishkur and when I finaly had my own Mega, I realized, hey, this IS kinda cool. 13: Finaly realizing I was no longer a total 0.0 newb and knew enough to survive up there as a semi active PVP'er and ratter... Led me to realize just what I had been missing for the 2+ years before it... EVE IS good in 0.0... As I always kind of suspected. 14: Realizing I finaly found a corp after 2+ years which shared my interests in EVE and temperment in all areas... I love these guys I'm with now, honest and for true.

didn't cruise kestrels get fixed befour t2 ships started comming out?
i started this game, about the time the turrets were getting boosted a little over 2 years ago. i had a dream that one day i would get to fly a thorax. i stared at the user posted pictures of it while i waited for my sub to get paid for.
with that goal in mind i mined from nood ship to imicus to tristan. which i used to do lvl 1's till i bought a vexor. i then mined more with the vex till i finally got my thorax after trading a vex in and using the rest of my cash. corp mate in the noob corp gave me a deal of 6 mil for the rax i gladly took it and charish it to the day. it was a good day for me.
a milestone/wow moment was when i did a lvl 3 blockade in a (gasp) ares inty. ZOMG RLY!11!?. Yes really. this was pre missle nerf of course took about an hour and a half. good 20 mins to finish the last thorax, and many many flamburst lights. and solo to boot. only lvl 3's i couldn't do in the ares was ones that had inty's in them that could actually web and scramble, this being a new installment at the time. ------FD------

the first time i realized i could defend myself without backup.
inty and a caracal were trying to gank me in a 0.0 access point, i had a passive shield tank ferox. i was spamming in chat 'omg help' becuase i was webbed and scrambled, and then i realized 'wtf i can defend myself' so i shot missiles at them and while i had no scrambler of my own i ran them off.
i became THAT much less of a noob that day. ---------

My best moment was when I got my harpy. (I flew Catalyst before that). I went to pick it up and I had to fly 15 jumps back to where I live, during the flight i couldnt stop looking at it from all angles, seeing the moving parts, admiring the engine structure etc...
Damn that was cool!
Never was in so much awe again, not even when I got my vulture...
One other moment was cool though: My corp owned a T2 BPO that we had bought for 3B, after a few months we decided to sell it. I made an auction with buyout of 4B, and within the hour it was sold.
I had 4M in my wallet before, and 4B after. I counted the zeros from my wallet several times to make sure I hadnt put the escrow up for 0 isk by accident, thats how surprised I was it sold so high so fast

There's been so many over the past months that I can't really recall them. All the ones I do remember have been corp wide affairs, moments where we all just sit around thinking, "Holycrap, did we really just pull that off?" and the many times that make me jump out of my chair screaming, "Hell yeah, Goonfleet Mother*******!!!"
My neighbors must think I'm insane.
I remember being really proud the day I got my first battleship. Saved up refined minerals from rat loot for weeks to build it... of course I relized later that I hate flying battleships.

I get that just entering lowsec even when there's nobody there.
My first milestone was finally getting my Covops skill trained so I could fly the ship I had in my hangar for months and make some BM's for places that I'd been wanting to go for ages.
My enthusiasm was soon dampened when I realised I needed to train 2 further levels before I could even fit a Covops cloak.

My first kill after beta.
Warped into belt found my mark with a friend and attacked. Killed my mark his pod warped and I started taking too much dmg from his friend so I warped off to a random moon to heal up. Warped back to belt to see the guy I shot in his pod checking his container. (which I forgot to scoop.) So I poped the pod and got his friend as well. (missed that pod somehow tho.) Anyway was a blast and made me realize that PVP is the only way to go in this game.

My first really big 'Yes!' was my first PvP kill, I was annoying an amarr battleship of some kind and a thorax in an incursus, and the thorax pilot went and got a rifter to fight me in. But I didn't realise he had changed ships he did it so fast, so when he approached I just went straight at him kamikaze style, then realised I actually had a chance of winning and panicked, so it was guns and web and scram and rep and orbit and cross fingers and ohnoes I'm approaching structure and omgz he is too and he's in his pod and I won yay. Though TBH I would have rather lost through fighting calmly than won through luck. Fitting > Skill I suppose
Another good one was when I discovered I had gotten a module worth 30 million in loot, back before I had reached the 10 million mark for the first time. I've lived off that captial for a while now.... ---------- Throwing ships away doing stupid things since April '06 |

There were 3 BIG moments for me personally...
1st was a long time ago now, my first proper pvp battle against Vatos Locos in Misaba, ended up pod killed but it was still an experience.
2nd was flying my crusader for the first time. Since then there has been very little else I've flown.
3rd was getting a small t2 ammo bpo. While this may not sound like much it was basically the perfect ammo type for my frig setups.
