One of the aspects of this game that I looked forward to was well delivered, content heavy storyline. I think like most people, I hoped that the story would be heavily interactive, occuring in most parts of the galaxy and driven by actual events that you can fly into. I expected alien invasions, exploding supernovas, black holes swallowing ships, rogue concord ships, treasure hunts, colliding planets, comets hitting stations etc - you get the picture.
Sadly what we have been given is a block of text at the logon screen. Whether or not you read it is totally irrelevant. That is just a lazy and cheap way to provide 'content', we want things actually happening in space, not a boring block of pseudo political text that is so tedious I don't even bother with it anymore. Unfortunately this is indicative of CCP doing things on the cheap.
Even when a so called event pops up, all they do is rename an npc pirate as 'jovian' and put a miner 2 bp in its cargo hold. Fiddling around with details in the database. To me, that is not story driven content, its just half-assed.

Perhaps you should put yourself forward as a champion for one of the Amarrian heirs in the forthcoming trials

Edited by: Erty on 30/09/2003 10:11:26 Erhm, it's not like the Jovians were NPC's... Get your facts right before you complain.
There ARE events in the game, not many right know though. But about a month ago (or when was it?) they had several events every day.
I think they're rebuilding the Aurora (event) program or something. Except more stuff soon. You can try that champion thing...that could be fun :) Fighting in frigates.
And we already have black holes swallowing ships

Hey there's spacemice in Luminaire, what more do you want?
All the angels and the puny men of god looked away... Frightened to death by the evil that was born on that day!

It would be good to have some events that are not combat orientated (ie. based on might, and who has the biggest ships).

Yes there is an incredible lack of imagination in the current events, it always involves shooting a ship to drop an item. Yawn. What about events that involve other aspects of the game, maybe an Arkanor belt discovered in 1.0 space, or npcs flood the market with megacyte, or a new frigate comes onto the market, or a station explodes - something orginal for goodness sake.

<jedi mind trick> EVE does not lack content </jedi mind trick>
TerrorDactyl: hmm, maybe EVE doesn't lack content.
<jedi mind trick> you should just go back to mining </jedi mind trick>

He could volunteer as a champion for one of the heirs...
IF:
he was lucky and got an agent of that family, as I can't imagine another way to get positive standing with those factions.
That one is half-assed, too: not the players devoted to an heir will be champions but those who got an agent by sheer luck. Storyline, content...pfffffft. We'll have to create it ourselves or cope with that crapload of 'well planned' and 'thought out' 'interactive' story.

Getting a positive standing shouldn't be hard, unless you already have a hugely negative one. Just do 1-2 missions.
Finding level 1 agents is as simple as docking in the correct stations. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."
