Edited by: Black Lung on 30/09/2003 14:16:47 I am stuck in figuring out which bship I want.
Do you guys have an idea for a guy that wants to do great damage (like in the 400+ range) but also wants to be equally defensive?
Thanks.
EDIT- Pressed enter too soon.

think you might need to make it little clearer what do you want to do.
pvp or npc?
if pvp what type support or solo??

Its probably hard to pull this off:
Solo NPC and PVP.

Tempest has good offensive and defensive capabilities.

well if you wish to do both it is posible but you would need to change loadouts that is all.
people will rave about the scorpion and i will agree it is a very amazing ship but as a genral idea it might be worth looking at.
either low ends:
domonix or scorpion the reason i say these are as follows.
domonix has a nice array of slots 6 high, 5 med and 7 low.
this would allow for a nice mix of guns. you could mix laser and hybrid on this also your drone support would be unmatched if you get your levels up. it would allow you to hold any mix of drones you want and the rate they drop from npc are easily replaceable. for pvp it can be loaded out quite nicley as the 5 med slots allow for a mix.
scorpion is pretty sweet i would say that for pvp choose this but for mix its still great.
6 high , 8 med and 4 low.
you will get a nice defense with this and you can combine it with a very nice attack as well. beeing able to use 4 launcher and 4 turrets you can mix what you wish to place in your high slots. med slots well you can feild what ever you need don't need to say alot.
low slots though it is let down but it depends how you wish to load it.
high end bs's
i would suggest a raven or tempest.
raven has nice load out it is like a domonix but bigger nice alrounder in my opion and the same with the tempest.
hope this might help a little or give you some ideas.

When you use more than one type of gun ( ie Hybrid and lasers ) your damage mods do not work properly. When you use the same types of gun but different range model... you will never get a maximum damage. Try changing your ammo type to get different distances instead of your gun. Make sure you have the proper skills before you go picking a fight with NPCs in 0.0 or a well armed PvP cruiser/BS.
I would suggest either the Dominix ( i loved mine ) or a tempest. Dominix can be just as good as a megathron in many ways and excels in others ( like drones ) and the tempest can do all those ( but drones ) better than a dom and it can even mine like a Dom ( albeit not as much cargo ).
Tempest is really the best lvl 2 BS for the ISK. But nothing beats a Dom for the ISK in EVE... Nothing.

I agree to a point, and love my Domi myself, but IMHO a Scorp is prolly a better buy than a Domi unless you are a drone man. For me, I've got very high drone skills and love the fact that I can carry 18 heavies and still fit a flight of Harvesters on board. The mid and low slots of a Domi are nice too, but the extra mids on a Scorp are not to be sneezed at if you don't have Drone interfacing and Heavy Drones.
On another note, while mining the other day I got surprised by a 1-40K, 3-20K spawn of Sanshas and destroyed them with nothing but Heavy Drones (no drones lost), some armour damage in the process but being able to stay on station and keeping mining. I LOVE the changes to Heavy Drones!!!!
Edit: BTW, I did the math on the Drones front and AFAIK 8 heavy drones with decent skills do about 150-170 points of damage every 2 seconds (damage from heavies has been increated about 40%-50%). ATM Crusier balance just went nuts, as I'm pretty sure that a combat kitted Thorax can now beat the crap out of any other cruiser, period.

How about a Caracel with 5 torps and a 2 shield harders =), that I think would give the thorax a run for its money.

I thank you all for your information. From other stuff I have read, I think I will go with the Tempest.
All I got to do now is buy the cruiser and bship skill for it.
Its funny, this is one of the ships I wanted when I first started but drifted away from it when projectiles started sucking.

Would depend on how you fired the first salvo. I hear that if they all go simulataneously they'll kill each other with splash, with maybe only 1 or 2 doing damage. Is that fixed?
If your fist salvo didn't get the Thorax though, yer dead. 8 Heavy drones doing damage every 2 seconds and the Thorax closing to within torp splash range whacking you with blasters. You can't fire again without taking the torp damage on yerself as well

Thorax with heavies certainly got VERY good, a corp mate has almost as much sucess in his Thorax hunting rats as I do with my Apoc, not quite but much closer.
He's certainly far more able post-patch than pre-patch and beats the corps Moa and Maller pilots in most situations.
