Originaly got on the beta, played for about 2 days, got bored, to steep learning curve for an EnB'er.
Got fed up with rule exploiters in EnB and its child like mentality.
Started trawling the Eve boards ... WOW! ... politics, PvP, finance, wars, alliances, spying .... WOW! An ADULT game :-)
So, im back in and gona put some effort in this time after judging rather harshly and unfairly last time.
Anyone got any tips for an Eve n00b?
Cya and be lucky!

Buy a Probe as quick as you can (you'll need to train Frig II as well). Once you have a Probe for doing a bit of mining you can really enjoy the game. Also train up those learning skills as quick as you can. Send me an eve-mail if you're interested in the role-playing aspect of the game and want to explore the possibility of joining a Corp. Sure, everyone supports saving Einstein's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, suddenly you've "gone too far". |

The first key to the game is understanding that there are lots of people out there that are willing to help . If you ever encounter something you dont understand or you just want to make sure your training up the right stuff just send a message to someone flying a battle ship and most likely you'll be helped.

I will help you with getting into an probe. will also add 2 basic expanders and a civilian booster plus survey scanner and throw in 2 miner 1's also. all for price of a probe. well maybe discount on that also. that should help you to get started.
also have good galante, caldari and amarr frigates avaible plus all other minmater frigates

From the list of affordable Minmatar frigs, you might want to consider the Burst first... It has smaller cargo than the probe, but it provides a nice bonus to mining yield&speed.

use your map to stay away from area's where pirates are camping.( pvp pirates) It doesn't matter much if your in a frigate, you'll lose it unfortunatly.
You might want to join a corp so you can join them while they are farming pirates in 0.5 or higher, that way you can mine some rare ore or get the pirate loot. ( npc pirates)
This is not a hijack

Try to find a friendly corp to join. They can help with lots of information, hints and even equipment. It's of course also a lot more fun to play with some nice people. SilverBadger

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree here. The Burst is actually a really nice 'mining drone' type ship (for mining in groups), but I would not suggest it for someone just starting out. It lacks the CPU to run two Miner I's (unless you have Electronics 5 or CPU upgrades) and only has a single low slot, so it really can't compete with a Probe running two Miner I's and two Cargo Expanders (and a Afterburner when you get the skill). Bursts are cheap, but I'm sure if you look around, or just ask nicely 'Anyone selling Probes? I'm new and hear that they're good...' you should be able to get a Probe for no more than 70k, and probably more like 50k. So I'm going to have to say that a new player is better served saving that extra 20k and waiting and buying a Probe rather than getting a Burst. Sure, everyone supports saving Einstein's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, suddenly you've "gone too far". |

oh I am so sorry, I sell my probes and imicus at 75k each. and average around 15 sold per week. anybody selling at 50k is taking a loss. but that is for another thread
still I sell now all but 5 frigates styles. those will soon be added
also sell bestowers, hoarders, badger mk II's. thoraxs built on request only

A RL friend gave me one of his old Probe's, i got a mining drone (but no skill yet :-( ) and two mining lasers ... pulling in loads of money now!
Next mission is to get drone skill and then get on to a few expanders.
VERY many thanks for all the advice!!!!

Monty, you aint the first to defect from E&B
I also got tired of its childish pokemon collect this collect that crap. Scripted storylines that happen no matter what you do. In terms of complexity, E&B is like a paddling pool, EVE is like a friggin ocean (with sharks).
Have fun!
