Hey all,
I've been running Caldari missions forever, and since that includes both important missions and Enemies Abound (Gallente faction npc's), Gallente state is starting to take a decidedly unfavorable liking to me. I think I'm at -4.67 at the moment.
I'd like to improve that because I enjoy being able to fly safely into Gallente space without being fired upon by sentry guns, but I don't want to go through the whole mission mill for a Gallente agent. I've come up with a few alterantives that I hope you can tell me will either work or not work:
- Accept Important Caldari missions and then deliberately fail them (assuming that Caldari state standing decreases following such an action means my Gallente state standing will increase)
- Train Diplomacy and other relevant skills. Yes that will temporarily solve the problem but when those skills are all maxed out, I'll have to solve the problem some other way.
- Some missions, like Sabotaged, feature a fleet of Caldari ships that you rendezvous with but aren't supposed to shoot at. Maybe if I shot those ships (and survived), I'd get some Gallente love?
- Any other suggestions?

Your one and only option if you don't want to do Gallente/Minmatar/Sisters of EVE missions is to train the Diplomacy skill. Incidentally, this will keep you going for a LONG time.
Btw, Sisters of EVE is the best way to get Gallente standings. Better than doing Gallente missions (Don't believe me? Look at my alt, Arvandor's, standings. Not a single SOE mission on her.) New sig coming soonÖ By "soon" I do not necessarily mean "this year" |

This is news to me. I was under the impression that because of the long standing military standoff between caldari state and gallente state, any increase in standing with one faction automatically lead to a standing loss with the other.
I did quite a few Enemies Abound missions, but that by itself does not seem to explain a standing of -4.67 with Diplomacy 3. Something other than these specific missions must have contributed to my standing with Gallente State.
Any ideas about this?

If one can't find a forum member who knows the answer to questions like this, would it be alright to write support and ask them directly?
Otherwise I'm not quite sure how players are supposed to get definitive answers to game mechanics issues.

Edited by: Pang Grohl on 05/07/2006 22:32:47 Every combat ship kill is good for a 0.8% standings loss. Non-combat ship kills are worth more. As far as I can tell you don't get a corresponding increase in standings with opposed factions.
Regarding missions and faction standings, you are correct. Add ship kills to the standings loss from "important" missions, and you can easily end up with severely negative standings.

faction standing loss is only due to important missions afaik. you lose standing to corps with killing ships, but not factions iirc
