I'm currently doing solo Caldari PVE in a blaster Merlin (3x Light Neutron II w/Null S) with some shield tank to boot. My main PVE has been either Level 2 Security missions or Hideaway/Burrow combat sites, but I think I'd like to upgrade from the Merlin to the next best thing.
At first glance, I was thinking a blaster Harpy (4x Light Neutron II w/Null S plus Salvager in high spots), but was hoping to get some input as to whether there's something else out there that might be better suited for higher-level PVE (Level 3/4 missions, Refuge/Den combat sites).
Any thoughts/fits that people can point me to? Thanks! |

Huh. Never heard of 'em. 
Seriously, I had been thinking on staying with the smaller frigates, but you bring up a good point about the larger ships. All the better to blast the hell out of things with, I guess.
Any recommendations as to which ones to start training towards (or, more importantly, avoid with every fiber of my being)? |

Much appreciated - not a fan of missiles myself, and I've already been putting a decent amount of time in with my gunnery skills. I'll check out those ships you mentioned in ISIS when I get home from work.

Holy sweet mother of mercy.
I look away from this thread for a few days, and Megathron and Rokh fits start showing up. While they're all gloriously intimidating (and making my Skill Queue scream in abject horror), I'm still flying a railgun Moa and working my way up to a Ferox. Frickin' Medium Hybrid Turret takes forever.
On the plus side - the Moa's slow speed isn't as much of an issue as I thought it would be... I can sit back and essentially vaporize targets as they close with me. L2's I can pretty much facreoll on the keyboard and finish, L3's are becoming easier, and I'm almost to L4's (Caldari Navy Security) which I expect to be trickier. Combat sites are also a nice chance for random violence, and I can steamroll Hideaways/Burrows/Refuges/Dens for some potentially nice stuff.
Did I mention I love Salvager drones? So much easier then bookmarking the wreckage and coming back later. 
Regardless, thanks for the all the input and advice so far, and for seeing what's still out there to put more guns on.
